Japan / Hong Kong Shopping

Lucky FtB, are you there for Christmas? =) Get some fabulous new outfits and post them in the "what are you wearing" thread!!

I love shopping in Causeway Bay...I also found last year that Lane C is improving significantly and they are trying to bring in many younger customers.

yeah but laneC still has the worst english speaking staff there.. the one at TS anyway.. IFC is much better. the staff are younger and are much more knowledgable. Much better manners as well!

I was really pleasantly surprised when i experienced a legendary 'korean restaurant' gesture from an SA there.. I was sitting down and the SA knelt on both knees to hand me my receipt with both hands. I'm not an 80 yr old triad granny either.. even when a guy proposes, he only needs to get on one knee..

hey Pinky, do you live in Hong Kong now?

maraschin0, yeah i'm here for Christmas break, I still got another 2 weeks left until I go back to the States.

I still think Lane Crawford is a PoS as far as fashion stores go...i went to the one in IFC the other day, soooo bad. Let's see what else...I.T. Raf Simons/Ann Demeulemeester sucks compared to the RS/AD sold in the States (They don't even carry Ann Dem boots!).

I wanna go check out the Tsim Sha Tsui branch of Joyce later today, i'm curious to see what Undercover and Number (N)ine stock they have. I'm probably gonna buy a blazer, a shirt maybe a sweater and that's it. I got enough pants.

no, just visit very often..
expat student.

does anyone know details for the 24 hour shopping pavillion thats in the works? sounds heavenly..

Pinky, that is the cutest story! Was the SA young or mature?

FtB: How was xmas shopping in HK? Any good sales this year?

I never heard of the 24 hour shopping mall...If there is one, that would be a dream come true!! Kare, do you know where it is located?

for sure! if its anything like the landmark.. except 24 hours.. oh dear :shifty:

the SA was young. her name was Idy who works around the chloe and stella area of IFC. it was when LC had their 'everyones a sucker/lollipop' campaign during the summer and she helped me pick out a lolly.. opened it up.. and won me a $500 gift certificate. Idy is an angel fallen from SA heaven

^ What a sweet sweet girl! She sounds amazing =) It's wonderful that you got such great service!

Bad for the most part. I.T. is a joke, the TST Joyce had some nice stuff...I ended up buying a Y's black 2-button blazer, the wool gabardine material is very nice and sturdy and the cut is slim (this jacket fits me better than the suit jackets i tried on by Balenciaga and Dior Homme), I'm glad I finally got a black blazer I can wear casually. I might end up getting this white shirt, also by Y's, which has some frayed detail along collar, buttons and cuffs.

Turns out Yohji still suits me best...the problem is with so much of the stuff bought for Hong Kong stores it just doesn't suit my body type. I'm very restricted in the things I can buy. Then there's a lot of commercial/crap items that aren't even worth looking at.

congrat Fade for finding some cool Y's stuff. Like you said it's hard to find some nice pieces in HK. They like to stock more commercial stuff to cater the HK crowd. I usually just look for Junya and CDG stuff at Joyce.

I.T. womenswear wasn't too bad.....lots of cheap Cacharel and Helmut Lang.

The I.T. sale store in Silvercord was also okies if you're prepared to rummage. Lots of Tsumori Chisato shoes at ridiculously cheap prices.

I did a splurge at A.P.C. (coz the range in Selfridges is appalling). Lots of shopping at LCX. And of course a smidge of cheapie MC Cheap shopping in Rise commercial building (about the only place to buy vintage and has loadsa local designers).

I don't think there is one in HK. I initially thought the APM mall in Kwun Tong was gonna be 24 hrs but it's not...just open till about 12 midnight. It's really crap though...a bit like Festival Walk.

As far as I know, there isn't a 24 hrs shopping mall. Though Trendy Zone opening till 1 am is late enough for me.

Dior shop in HK (sorry I forgot which location) will expanded and it will carry Dior Homme in its basement....coming this summer for all you Dior Homme fans out there

so not just JOYCE the only place anymore...

The Dior Homme shop will expand at the Canton Road Location in front of Harbour City in June i believe. Hopefully they will offer better prices and a lot better selection then joyce.

Someone brought up maria luisa in lee gardens and shine. Do these shops offer menswear and where exactely is shine located?

go to central. you can get there by the metero. their are high streets. discount shops. anything and everything. there are even bazaars!

A friend of mine went to HK for business and bought a very nice knock-off bottega bag. I am wondering has anyone seen them? do yu think they make good knock- offs there?

MC Cheap sounds interesting. Where is Rise commercial building ?

^Lol...sorry...I typed out 'cheapie Mc cheap' and made it sound like a store...it was just my weird descriptiong of cheap shopping in Rise Commercial Building. But Rise Commercial is on Granville Circuit off Granville Road in Tsim Tsai Tsui.
