fashion_freek, you must credit all photo sources. I had to delete the ones you posted.

She was so incredibly lovely  I've never seen someone look more lovely and feminine with short hair - it was the perfect look for her :flower:

Absolutely stunning. Especially in A bout de souffle, one of my favourite films of all time.
Thanks to everyone for the pics!

emily marie, you're terrific for posting that article... what a great read for the evening.

My boyfriend made me watch Breathless last night - I had never seen it, he saw it in a film class quite some time ago - I was so inspired by her fashion and her look in that film - and the film was very innovative, film-wise.

Jean has always fascinated me. There's something striking about her. She was cute, but not too much. After reading her biography I was touched and impressed. She ended up quite sadly, but she had beautiful and legendary life. I'd say she and her artistic work is little underrated, most of people don't recognize face. But she was radiant anyway . . .

I said that in the thread on Edie Sedgwick (sp ?). She reminds me of Edie.
She also reminds me (in some pictures) of a very young Ingrid Bergman, when she had very short hair too.
She has a luminous face, one that the camera loves.
I have a fondness for actresses with very short hair (Mia Farrow comes to mind). It shows that no matter how short the hair, they remain beautiful. Usually, the hair is such an important beauty asset. Here, you can't hide behind a beautiful hairstyle. Your face is completely naked, as it were.

I absolutely agree Jeanne. With the luminosity and the short hair thing. I sure wish I had straighter hair and the face to pull that sort of cut off.
