Jennifer Aniston

Ugh, I'm so sad her movie bombed. I haven't seen it, but has anybody here seen it? From what I have seen, she and Jason Bateman have wonderful chemistry.

^^ I LOVE her UK Elle photoshoot. Some of those outakes are better than the pics in the mag. My favs the 3rd one from the left.

^Her next career move should be to take a break...just disappear under the radar for about 2-4 years.
THEN, she should return and pick up a nice, meaty TV role like Courtney Cox did with Cougar Town.

IMO, Jennifer is not movie star material. She's best when she's on television. She's not versatile enough to do film,
which is why she always does the same role over and over and over again. She's done like 10 films in the past year
and they've all been the same as far as I can tell (I didn't see any of them). No one really cares about her anymore.
To make them care, she needs to go away for awhile. ^_^

^ You make a great point; she would be better off back on TV, I think. There have been a couple of okay films with her in them, like "Friends with Money" and "Marley and Me" (well, mainly I liked the dog, lol!), but I agree that she generally plays the same character. Maybe a change of scene would do her good. But this choice to do Apatow's film is a bad one, imo. Sounds kind of, well, sleazy, by the description in that article.

This movie doesn't sound like good material.... her co-star is Paul Rudd... the premise of the movie doesn't sound great and it's going to rely solely on her to promote and get people to the theatre for it to make money.

I think Jennifer Aniston should continue to do movie because she is great at them... especially comedies. I loved her in 'The Break Up', "Marley and Me', "Friends with Money', 'The Good girl' and HIJNITY. However, she signs on for too much projects and yes her characters are similar.

She already has two movies that are likely to be successful next year. One comedy with Adam Sandler w/ Nicole Kidman in a supporting role and Horrible bosses w/ Bateman, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, etc... Why sign up to do this movie as your 3rd movie in a year?

She should just be doing no more than 2 movies per year and one of them should be a supporting role that is differet for her like a thriller, drama or something.

^I agree. She needs to do quality over quantity and mix it up with some smaller projects like Friends with Money that showed her range.

To whomever said she should take 2-4 years off -- she can't do that. She's already in her forties and will age out of the most lucrative parts. It would be very difficult for her to try to restart her career at age 45 after disappearing. Witness Demi Moore.

Hmmm... link has news on Aniston's next career move. Don't know: I think Apatow's films are rather juvenile and this one sounds similar. I wish Jen had stuck with the forays she was attempting when she did "The Good Girl."

Juvenile? I think Apatow's films are comic genius. The only thing is I don't know if Paul Rudd is much of a box office pull as a male lead.

I agree, The Good Girl... wow, what a good flick. I need to buy that DVD, it has such a fantastic mood to it. I liked Friends With Money - that IS a DVD I own, and I think Jen was so, so good in that. And so pretty. She's no ordinary girl. ;)

^I enjoyed Friends With Money too. I don't remember disliking her part in that movie but generally I wouldn't call her a good actress. I don't know if she was Rachel but she doesn't seem to be able to shake that image off.

Guess it's just a matter of opinion; I did NOT like "Knocked Up", "The 40 year old virgin" or "Funny People", nor did I like the Apatow-like "The Hangover".

I like what you might call "smart" comedy, but it is a somewhat rare thing at present: for example, there is the Coen Brothers, "Juno" was wonderfully written, "Being John Malkovic", writer-directors like Wes Anderson, Kevin Smith, or Woody Allen who was great in the past, and there are more brilliant oldies like Billy Wilder.

Apatow often writes down to his audience, imo. I prefer writers that makes me laugh AND think.

But it's pretty subjective stuff. To each her own ... :flower:

this statement so perfectly sums up how I feel about Jen as an actress. she really should try and find a great TV role to be in rather than movies. eventually people won't love her just because she was "Rachel from Friends", and start to realize what a one-note actress she really is. I generally just wait for her movies to show up for free on TV within the year or so anyways :p

I allways defend Jennifer, because I like her and I think she is good comedianne and she has proved she can do drama (the good girl) but I agree, some of her movies have been...
I still hope after all those movies that have bombed she keeps doing movies and if she finds good tv role it would be super to see her in tv...but it feels like she is more interested doing movies.

Re: Bob cut - At the time it got major hate. I get the feeling she regreted doing it at the time. The creators of Friends didn't like it and that's why the cut wasn't written into the storyline.

It wasn't horrible but it didn't suit her face shape. Season 8 shoulder length was perfect for her face. She looked amazing in Season 8.

I've had the same hair cut for the last 10 years like Jen cause it suits me BUT I do colour it different colours all the time. I'd love Jen to go a medium brown sort of like in Season 3.

I did read that Jennifer hated her bob cut but I did not know that creators of Friends did not like it...why did they do the choice to cut her hair then...??
I think it looked lovely on Jennifer.

Season 8 hair was aaaamaaaazing and also I liked when she had super long hair (dont remember what season...) but those might have been extensions.

Jennifer is definetly not a risk taker when it comes to her hair but it would be nice to see something edgyer.oooh, like red-ish hair colour...hahah
:woot::woot:

and those pictures in post #542 are super pretty, my favourite must be number 5...that smile ^_^

The long hair in Season 6 was indeed the work of extensions. She had them in while she was filming Rock Star.

None of Jen's movies have been Oscar-worthy, obviously, but I can't think of a movie that she's been in which was bad? My ex works in a DVD store and whenever I would call him and tell him I was in the mood for a romantic comedy he'd be like "OK, I'll get you another Jen Aniston movie then" They're all pretty much the same, yes, but they're also the only romantic comedies that I can watch without cringing. I'd rather have her stick to these roles that she's very good at than trying to be edgy or whatever because I don't think she's the kind of actress that could pull off those kind of roles.

I watched a movie of her, Management, and that was a pretty boring movie but she was looking beautiful in it.

Anyway, she was always best at Friends and she is always going to stay as Rachel for those who adore Friends.

^ I'm surprised you thought Management was boring! You mustn't have much taste for indies? I thought it was surprisingly delightful. And of course she looked good in it.

^It's true, i don't watch a lot of indies but i think the main reason that i thought the movie was boring, was the lead actor in the movie. Just couldn't see the chemistry between him and Jennifer.
