Jennifer Lopez F/W 05.06 New York

I mean how can this be called fashion. It's like a bunch of terribly trendy and ugly stuff put together and with a try-to be couturish twist to it. It's so sad, her outfit at the end of the show and when she came in with Marc speaks for itself.

I am depressed looking at such a joke.

That's harsh! Why the hell is it disgraceful? It looks like the models were having fun to me.:innocent:

That's what I was thinking....I'd be having a ball of a time too if I was getting paid to walk for the night:p Plus, don't you think she really must of paid em' well b/c she got top notch models. This isn't like the teenage wanna-be's she got for her intimates line.

I assume the models were all well paid, but I for one would be ashamed to sport such ludicrous outfits. I agree with what someone else said, it's the death of fashion. While everybody else goes the hard way people like J.Lo. have all the doors open to present the world with such crappy products of their fertile yet idiotic imagination. Just my two cents.

I definetly dont feel sorry for the models in that show -- have you thought about the exposure they are getting for being in the Jennifer Lopez Fashion show? They will be in so many video clips on fashion televion shows, regular news programs, entertainment news shows, specials on the cable StyleNetwork, Full Frontal Fashion tv show, MTV is doing a special on this...I mean it is a major marketing tool. These models will be noticed by people who are not fashion afficionados...all those regular people leading regular lives not avidly following fashion...those are the people these models are going to get out in front of...and eventually that leads to higher popularity, and eventually money for them.

Also, so many people were hating her collection before they even saw it. How is this objective? Indeed, she's worn some cheesy outfits...but I seem to remember other celebrities, and yes designers wearing and producing some notable fashion mistakes...and they were not ghetto. Jennifer Lopez is a smart business woman, her fashion is not about high concepts, it is about finding one more product to sell to the demographic that is buying her music and paying to see her films. Can we really expect her line to include looks inspired by chanel, or yamamoto, or lanvin for example? Her fans dont want to dress like that, and the people who do want to dress like that are probably not interested in Lopez' product (fashion, film, nor music). They are two totally different markets. This is business folks.

as for the clothes...there's not a lot of design in there, from the few pics I've seen so far.

More guts than Baby Phat...most importantly, I think she has heart. I guess I'm just a big romantic but that gets points with me. Negativity is what's really, really ugly...blech. That being said, I still don't get the V&R connection but okay. She wont be the saviour of 'streetwear' or 'urbanwear' or whatever else the so called pundits want to label plain ole American design ('not in my backyard...') but she's throwing a new challenge out there to step it up a little, maybe...a step in the right direction

hmmm...maybe...but honesty is truly gorgeous...
and this is honestly ridiculous... :p :innocent:

Absolutely garish. But there are already some equally-as-bad lines, so this really doesn't add up to much. The only thing that saddens me is the media circus surrounding it. Lots of impressionable people are going to see this and think it's fashion and that Lopez is an actual designer. But hey, I guess that's really no different than people thinking that Ashlee Simpson is an actual singer. It's all just mainstream bullsh*t in one way or another. Lots of people will go with it and enjoy themselves, and lots of people will absolutely abhor it and stick with innovation, art, and class. This appeals to the Baby Phat customer, and it will probably do as well as, if not better than, that brand. Sadly.
