Jennifer Lopez F/W 05.06 New York

Even though I'm starting to like the collection, I have to wonder, how much of the designing was actually her?

^yeah, i had to wonder that too....probably not that much, but you can see her influence on it....i mean, you can literally imagine jlo in every single one of the outfits, because lets face it her own fashion choices are not that well all the time (you know, money just cant buy style, thats fact!)

Here are some of my favorite looks...

oh my god....all that fur.... makes my head spin horribly :yuk:

for all those rich ghetto-fab wannabes, fine. me, i wont give it a second look.

I don't think it's that bad. I never expected an amazing designer collection, because we all know that's not who JLo is.

True, the outfits on that runway are over the top, but this is Jennifer Lopez! That's just her style... And the models seem to be having fun. I'm sure most of them wouldn't wear that off the runway, but modeling is their job and wearing ridiculous stuff for a very short period of time doesn't sound like a big problem to me.

There was a lot of fur here, but I saw that coming... I liked how playful some of the outfits were, atleast it wasn't boring.

I actually saw a few cute things I would wear.

To be honest, it's better than I expected. Haven't seen any pieces that I really would wear, but she did a nice job. I was wondering too if she just hired some designers or actually took part in the designing.

Ah but the poor animals, please. Use fake fur if you like it that much!

It's funny how much attention this "collection" is getting. I guess it's kinda like slowing down and staring at a carwreck.

    !!!! couldn't agree with you more!!!! I doubt J Lo actually knows anything about putting together her own outfits, nevermind some one else's. She really should just STOP.

You're right, Softie, gorgeous; but I'm a little concerned by how uppity people can be, sometimes...as if its a bit shock and surprise that money can buy you things in America, like a 'fashion' line...not that I'm going to teach a social studies course but you know what I mean. Sometimes that barefaced gobsmacked look is a little...boring. Besides, i'm slightly envious; she's making millions and i'm just typing.

i don't know how old you are...but when my family came to this country it was all about opportunity and what hard work could get you...

now it just seems like it's more about celebrity status and money...than it is about talent and hard work...it's NOT the values that this country was founded on and it's NOT why so many people come here from all over the world...
it is what we have come to, though...via the mass media...and it is rather diappointing and tragic to some...

i see no reason not to be honest about being disgusted by the fact that talent is not a pre-requisite for fame and fortune in the fashion industry...

maybe it's all madonna's fault...
why doesn't SHE have a clothing line!!!???!!?!?!?!?!>>>>>>>>>>>>> :innocent:

from wwd...
NEW YORK — Wanted: Fashion’s next design talent.
Job requirements: A minimum of five platinum records, three Grammys and 150 magazine covers. Weekly intimate revelations in at least two gossip magazines preferred.
New York’s designers better start working on their résumés since they’re facing tough competition. When Jennifer Lopez takes the customary bow in the finale of her first fashion show tonight, she will close yet another New York Fashion Week filled with front-row celebrities (OK, many of the B class) and paparazzi mayhem. Lopez is expected to be joined on the show calendar next September by Beyoncé Knowles, who has plans to stage a show for her House of Deréon label, and perhaps even by P. Diddy, launching his long-awaited women’s collection.

i think this is really really sad...

Can it get any more horrid? What's next? Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Simpson launching an haute couture line?

And I heard she also got a standing ovation...... Oh dear.... Someone pass me a kleenex.

kimkhuu, I'm offering my shoulder if you need to cry more. :flower:

What the hell is that on Naomi?!

Is there a reason this is called Sweetface and not JLOW? What's the difference  Anyway...it seems like she's showing her personal wardrobe with people who would look better than her in it :innocent: Maybe it's her little fantasy...

Her role of designer is probably slim to none. But think about how easy it would be to actually be a designer for her. She's the inspiration, no need to look for a real theme, mood or feeling, just look at her and her ridiculous lifestyle....how perfect was the timing of her cover of Vogue leading up to her premiere show, which incidentally was the final straw for me to ever buy Vogue.

OT--It really is the death of fashion. with all this celebrity worship and now them as designers people will start to see THIS as fashion and not true talent. I also think it's going to be damaging to young people. I can just see all these fans saying "I'm going to be a designer just like....". What's going to happen when they realize that it takes talent? How many of them will make it?

do i detect some junya watanabe influence in this coat? :(

Totally. I'm now entertaining a mental image of La Lopez & design team sitting around that Junya coat, discussing how best to make it ghetto fabulous.
