Jil Sander F/W 07.08 : Irina K., Kasia, Clement & Douglas by Willy Vandeperre

I don't think the ad is meant to be sexual but rather to portray Douglas (left) as being Clement's ventriloquist dummy. The placement of his arm behind Douglas's back is like propping up a puppet, and also how the left models leg is dangling and Clement's is behind it to support it up. Also the surprised straight forward look on the left models face and the fact that he is wearing shoes and Clement is not.

Fascinating interpretation :flower: Kudos!

beautiful! reminds me of 'the picture of dorian gray' film for some reason

very interesting.... and now that you tell.... maybe you're right
but I prefer to think it has sthg related to sensuality btw men...^_^
I mean it's pretty rare to see such sensual, soft and discreet homosexual feelings in ads... and the ad is so beautiful....
But when we'll see the rest of ads... your (good) interpretation may be right...

Clement Chabernaud:heart::heart::heart:

jil sander chose the perfrct spokeguy :blush:^_^:p

I like this. The idea is so original and Jil ads are always so intriguing and enticing!

I think Irina K. is the perfect choice for Jil Sander. :flower:

I really hate feet. Period. End of story.

Still, I actually really like this Jil Sander campaign so far. The mood is a tad darker, which is a nice contrast to how light and ethereal last season's ads looked. There's definitely a really subtle sexuality presented there. Now if only they had given Clement shoes...but I understand the reasoning for keeping him barefoot. Still...I really hate looking at feet...
 Me too. But like you, I'll let it slide because it does add something to this ad...

So clean and simple, but the mood, and every detail, is just right.

wow, it is so going to be posted in the "homosexuality in advertising" thread! wonder how Irina and Kasia's will turn out!

Great ad.Interesting concept and perfectly executed

is Irina (Lazareanu?) and Kasia in the title of this thread because there will be an ad with them for Jil Sander womenswear?

<3 this quite a bit.

I also like the puppetry interpretation. The boys seem to hold this kind of purity and innocence in their faces and the feet brushing is, as it has been mentioned, subtly sexual and vaguely suggestive.

thanks :p i should be in this section more often:heart:

^Damn right its Kulikova. Irina L. would have been horrible for Jil Sander

I think you bring up a good comparison and I definately see that in the ad. However, I still think there is a subversive, subtle sexuality to the ads. Just look at the feet and how they are crossed, almost interlocked. They could have easily done the dummy theme w/o the legs like that.

Sorry for the low quality snap shots. I assumed someone else would've found or posted these ads by now and my scanner is in storage. These are from a foldout mailer announcing the availability of the F/W collection. It's been (at least in part) in stores since mid-May and I think these were mailed a month ago.

You won't be able to see very well, but the men are wearing the season's best pants- the ones with the added seams on the legs. They obviously look much richer in real life.
