Jil Sander S/S 2017 Milan

Reminds me too much of Demna's Balenciaga with a bit of Issey Miyake. Doesn't feel original at all, just pumping up of simple silhouettes. I miss the original Jil Sander in this.

Is this a bad collection? No
Is this Jil Sander? No

This exactly what I feel.

It's actually a really good collection as it is, but it has zero Jil in it. He still hasn't quite understand the soul of the brand, and probably never will.

I think it's a good collection; very much an evolution of his F/W 16. My issue with this is how derivative it is. It looks like an illegitimate child of Vetements and Issey Miyake's Pleats Please line. A brand like Jil Sander is simply too established to be borrowing like this. Paglialunga's collections, while not bad, have always been sort of a question mark to me and this collection doesn't help. It's rather strange as he produced some amazing work at Vionnet.

I can't get over how unflattering and costume-y most of these clothes look, I don't really think this is what you want when you're willing to spend a fortune at a brand like Jil Sander that stands for a certain timelessness (almost non-fashionable) of appeal, the clothes need to be at the forefront and not the ego of the designer or the question how well the clothes will work in street style pictures during fashion week.

To be honest, I almost find Uniqlo's new collection venture with Lemaire to be more true in spirit to what Jil Sander *should* stand for and fresher in terms of the clothes than any of what this guy is designing for the actual Jil Sander brand...

Some interesting looks, but some of them look like 90's Calvin Klein

There is nothing Demna about this lol, its basically mid 80s dresses , which honestly speaking are very unflattering and trashy looking lol.
