Jil Sander S/S 2020 Milan | the Fashion Spot

Jil Sander S/S 2020 Milan

A refreshing improvement from their previous collections. Now it looks more Jil Sander (although I would remove the fringe part and some volumes here and there).

I specially love the satin patchwork dresses. Very sophisticated and relaxed at the same time.

I like this collection...slowly their woman gets more active.
They have left the loungewear thing to do clothes that can function in people’s life. Jil Sander is a name that I associate with the work practicality.

This is charming, there’s an effort of seduction (the lipstick, the bijoux), the allure is quite womanly.
The green suit with the white boots looked good in the video. So fresh and unexpected!
I love the rich dark tones, the very « Anne Marie Beretta » dresses...

There’s maybe still too much unnecessary catwalk effects (the stiff fringes situation) but it’s a solid collection. This is the type of collection I would love to see for Hermès!

Too bad that i’m not so much invested in JS since Raf left because it has a good appeal.

It would be a nice collection on its own right but some crucial elements are missing to make it convincing as JS.
Where's the tailoring, the restraint, the authoritative aura that Jil dispensed on her best work?

I like it quite a bit... whether it’s Jil Sander enough? Well, more so now than ever before.

As minimal and relaxed as most of these clothes are, there’s something overwrought and stiff confounding my perception of it. I like it, but they could definitely ease up, certainly on those last several looks.

Love the shoes and bags.

A few good outfits towards the beginning won't save the fact that these two have no vision for Jil Sander, other than a mash-up of all the Phoebe Philo-isms already found on other runways (and that in the more 'fashion' territory, looked better at Proenza Schouler) - With Raf Simons it was, even during Rodolpho Paglialunga's tenure there were a few good, if sometimes challenging moments.

On the surface it seems so easy to design a Sander-esque collection but there are in fact only but a few designers with the right sensibility that would really 'get' this brand. I feel rather regretful that the house is currently in the hands of two designers that don't seem to have that sensibility.

I'm very thankful that there is more than staight as a ruler hemlines, plain fabrics and such, it's the right amount of design while keeping with the austere nature of this brand. We can't pretend like a show of suits and nothing else will cut it in 2019. I only truly dislike that cheap fringe and that weird lace-like thing on the five last looks which reminds me of an awful 10-minute craft you would do at summer camp.

Its nice for the most part but as others mentioned the arts and crafts detailing in some of the clothes is distracting and annoying.
