Jil Sander S/S 2023 Milan

Call me picky but this is really annoying!
They had Phoebe’s collections all around their moodboard and decided to build a collection around that. It’s annoying really! Jil Sander has an heritage, amazing archives dating back to the 70’s and they holding the brand hostage in this recent fashion weird space.
Yes I like the feathers clutch and the draped yellow dress but big no for this!
And when I think about the prices of Jil Sander today, please, more creative integrity!!!

So we have a bit of Celine fall 2013, Spring 2015, Spring 2016, and Fall 2016... I am sure I have missed some.

I am getting tired of them. Separated, the pieces are most of the time flat so it is really all about the styling. Like @Lola701 the prices are just outrageous. What is going with these duo designers being the least inspiring of all ??

Their prices are OUTRAGEOUS!
At those prices, there are so many brands I would rather go to for the same kind of proposition and aesthetic.

Maybe there will be a world-wide recession next year and all these designers are ahead of the curve.
Honestly all the collections this season are depressing.
Mustard yellow is nobody's friend.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way.

The difference between Celine and these clothes is that Celine always left you wanting more. Philo was exciting because each season that arrived presented something new, or a tweak on a piece from last season that gave us a new perspective.

These pieces and most of these designers catalog leaves us content. The lines are always the same, the proportions are expected, the fit rarely changes. It's almost too perfect if that makes sense. It's such conservative fashion.

I give them props for experimenting if you will with different textures, but it all feels so rehearsed.

I just came from the bottega thread. This is so irrelevant next to that.
As a hardcore Jil fan I’m continually let down by their offering. Not only is it overpriced, it makes the cardinal sin of making you look like a fool wearing it.
These are clown clothes disguised as minimalism. Weird boxy shapes that push no agenda aside from looking like a weird box.

This feels like a Céline greatest hits collection. I see so many different seasons in one collection. I feel like they are going in full force and not even hiding the fact that they heavily copied Céline.

I'm indifferent about them, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. But this time it's just tiring.
I still like some pieces, but I like them because it reminds me of Phoebe, not Jil.

I don't know why they keep doing Phoebe doing Jil when in fact they can have direct access to the archives of Jil herself, something all of those minimalist designers can only dream of.

Their clothes are not exciting because they never take any risks. They have always been a follower when Jil Sander's name should be a leader.
They are officially Proenza Schouler of Milan for me now.

Why are the prices so high? Jil Sander went from being priced at below Prada to being priced at the level of Hermes in the span of a few years, and I don't understand why?

As a Jil Sander (the woman) fan, this is making me quite depressed. I admit I wanted this new iteration to work, if only for the brand to live on and thrive, but these two have gotten on my nerves. Not only is their output so reductive of Phoebe Philo's work, but progressively, they've been erasing Jil Sander's distinctive aesthetic to chase clout among what the duo and the people over at OTB think is the luxury consumer.

Recently popped in a department store and got to see their new season stuff and I am appalled at the quality of the clothes! The white shirts are so sloppily stitched, with such a low stitch density - honestly, the shirt did not compare to my Jil Sander by Jil Sander AND even my +J shirts. The fabric was so sheer, it felt like it came from H&M. And at around 500 euro, haaard pass. Sadly, it seems to me that OTB is revamping the brand by implementing the Prada Group strategy - dramatically cheapen production and materials, increase prices stratospherically and hope the designers at the helm are able to generate clout among the masses.

I'm so over this duo and the OTB.

This feels really, really fussy. Trying too hard to look minimal in that Philo Celine way and not in an actual Jil Sander way.

To me at least, Jil Sander was always very rigorous in its minimalism, harking back to 30s-40s victory suits with a stark utilitarian edge. They could make a sleek skirt suit look like something to wear on the go because of its precise fabric selection and length of pieces.

Here, everything is so boxy with so much fabric to them that it feels so in the way. The width of some of these pants would just piss me off so much because there's just too much fabric to them.

Their obsession with making those wide boxy silhouettes is truly scary to me tbh. The models look like they're being punished for walking in this show.

The empire waist tunics are kinda nice but the rest is a total déjà-vu. The degree to which these two have managed to ignore and erase the legacy of the founder is definitely cause for outrage. In a relatively short span of time Jil Sander has become the place to go if you’re too lazy to search for secondhand Céline pieces and nothing more.

In a way Jil Sander, the woman, has had the last laugh, with each new collection this couple releases we’re reminded of how much more streamlined, practical and luxurious her clothes were and what true purity in design can achieve, mainly timeless elegance.

yeah the pricing of Jil and OAMC has blown up in the last few years. I don't get it.
