They'll have gone for the shoes that they know will sell for sure, the average sizes. That probably explains why some sizes also come in half sizes, and some don't. They're just playing it safe.
These collections aren't really about making money directly from them. If you look at it logically, there aren't enough garments/pieces to sell to make a HUGE amount of money when you put it against something like say Kate Moss at Topshop. The amounts are smaller, much more limited, and only available in very few places.
The head of design said around the launch of the CDG collection that they raised the profile of the store. They increased revenue that way. Not from the sales of the designer collections alone. I suppose that's why they'll always give it such limited stores and only do certain sizes/quanities. It keeps it exclusive. CDG didn't sell all that well at all, it had the most stock left out of any of the collections so far, but it was a huge thing for them to have them do it for them. Raised their profile immensly.
It keeps the designers coming to them, wanting to do the collections, without knowing literally everyone could be walking around in their designs, devaluing their brand.
