Jimmy Choo

Jimmy Choo Couture

Hey, I have a pair of Jimmy Choo Couture shoes, they're covered in cream rough silk and are quite cute...
They're "vintage", but they can't be too old as Choo started the Couture line in 2001 (?)

Anybody know anything about the couture line? ... are they made for couture?

Here's a little bit about it from wikipedia.com

Choo is a Malaysian of Chinese descent, who was born in Penang in 1961 into a family of shoemakers. He made his first shoe when he was 11 years old. He is perhaps the most famous of students of Cordwainers' Technical College in London, from which he graduated in 1983. The college is now part of the London College of Fashion. Choo has divulged that he worked part-time at restaurants and as a cleaner at a shoe factory to help fund his college education.
Jimmy Choo's beginnings can be traced back to his workshop in Hackney, East London, which he opened in 1986 by renting an old hospital building. His craftsmanship and designs were soon noticed and he came to the verge of international fame when his creations were featured in a record eight pages in a 1988 issue of Vogue magazine. Patronage from Diana, Princess of Wales from 1990 onwards further boosted his image.
In 1996, he co-founded Jimmy Choo Ltd with UK Vogue accessories editor Tamara Mellon.
In April 2001, Choo sold his 50% stake in the company for £10 million. He has since been concentrating his work on the exclusive Jimmy Choo Couture line produced under license from Jimmy Choo Ltd. The Jimmy Choo London line, also known as Jimmy Choo Ready-To-Wear or simply, Jimmy Choo, is under the purview of Tamara Mellon. The ready-to-wear line has expanded to include accessories such as handbags.
Choo currently resides in London. He is involved in a project to set up a shoemaking institute in Malaysia, where his iconic status is often evoked to inspire budding shoemakers and fashion designers.

Jimmy Choo Couture

Today if you want shoes that actually have anything to do with Jimmy Choo himself, you'll have to purchase them from Jimmy Choo Couture. Available by appointment only at 18 Connaught Street in Paddington, London, England.

DATUK JIMMY CHOO! haha. im rather proud of him since i'm a malaysian myself. its funny how he has only ONE store in malaysia when there's quite a lot of other designer stores here.

and how horrendous of me to have met him and went all 'Oh, he looks really familiar but idk wtf he is.' two years back. i mean, he pretty much walked infront of me and i didn't know. :(

I bought the most comfortable and classic pair of Jimmy Choo boots yesterday! They are called "London" and they're pretty simple - flat, black leather, knee-high boots. Exactly what I wanted (but surprisingly difficult to find ones that have great details, are easy to get on, are comfortable, classic and well made)!

They sold them a few years ago - anyone else have a pair?

all pics my own

^^^^^^So I guess you bought them on Ebay? 'Cause they're gorgeous! Like a nicer version of a Loefller Randall.

Thank you! They are gorgeous, and they fit really well, which is a huge plus. It's difficult to find boots with a half-zip (one that doesn't go all the way to the top) that are easy to get on, but this zipper is angled and that makes it simple to get my heel and toe in place.

No, I bought them at the 5th Avenue boutique. They sold them a few years ago and this season they're selling them again.

Did anyone of you see the Glenys ( the gladtior style heels with the golden zipper in the centre) in green python? I am psyched cause I was able to get hold of one, but for an extra price from one of their boutiques but apparently they sell it around 300 US dollar extra.
They are completely sold out everywhere!!! One of my SA told me that they are not making the green anymore but making a metallic colour for the spring, anyone heard of that?

thanks for the tip-off about the sale! I personally think Choo's are underrated. There was a lot of hype around them in the early noughties thanks to SATC, but that has died down. I find them a lot of more comfortable than Louboutin's but that might be the shape of my foot.

My first pair of Jimmy Choos, got them on sale a month ago:D

I'm usually a size 35.5 but depending on the designer and style i can be a 35.5, 36, even a 35 sometimes.I only own one pair of Jimmy Choos, the ones i posted a pic before and there are a 36.So i think they run pretty much true to size. Anyway i think i'm gonna have to let those beauties go...

From Vogue.co.uk:

TAMARA MELLON has resigned from Jimmy Choo, the brand she founded in 1996 along with shoemaker Jimmy Choo, following the label's £500 million acquisition in May this year. Chief executive Joshua Schulman has simultaneously announced his resignation, though new owner Labulex insists that pair intend to pursue independent careers.
"Jimmy Choo is an outstanding brand with enormous growth potential and the ability to deliver material growth synergies across our group," said Labelux's chief executive Reinhard Mieck, as reported by the Financial Times. "With a successful transition behind them, we respect their wish to move on to other challenges."

Under Mellon's command, the company has evolved from a small business set up by cobbler Jimmy Choo in 1996 to a global luxury brand boasting handbags, scarves and fragrances. Its recent accomplishments include partnering with H&M, Ugg Australia and Hunter as well as adding a men's line this autumn.

Mellon is set to leave at the end of the month, while Schulman will complete a transition phase into 2012. Sandra Choi and Simon Holloway will continue as creative directors. While Mellon's position is unlikely to be replaced, Schulman's successor is expected to be announced over the next few weeks.
