[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Jennifer Lopez has abruptly quit the much-anticipated big screen remake of classic 1970s show Dallas.

The Maid In Manhattan actress was set to star opposite John Travolta - who will play JR Ewing - as his alcoholic wife Sue Ellen.

Shirley MacLaine is in talks to star as Ewing family matriarch Miss Ellie and Luke Wilson is rumoured to be taking on the role of Bobby Ewing.

Lopez's representative Leslie Sloane Zelnick confirms to American publication Star: "She is out of Dallas."

This isn't the first report of trouble regarding the film - earlier this year, Legally Blonde director Robert Luketic quit the project citing "creative differences" and was reportedly unhappy with casting choices.

Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha is now attached to direct the film.

The role of Lucy Ewing has also been the subject of much speculation, with many of Hollywood's top young actresses vying for the part including Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan and Kristin Cavallari. The role ultimately went to 19-year-old Katie Cassidy, who stars in the US family drama 7th Heaven.

OH NO!  What happened!? J.LO needs to be Sue Ellen!!!

Good, she can't act, she would of ruined the movie big time.

Since when was Kristen Cavalleri a top young hollywood actress?!

Since when does Dallas require acting-skills!? The role of Sue Ellen only requires diva-antics and JLO definitly has them!

Not for nothing, but J Lo's movie career has not exactly been sizzling lately. She needs to pick every next role carefully, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Dallas script wasn't all that good. Plus, it is probably just a good rule of thumb to stay away from any project that considers Jessica Simpson to be a serious actress!

^ haha now the specualtions are running rife!

yeah JLo's 'acting' skills annoyed me too - she just tryed to portray the struggling latino beauty role 'fragile' yet managing to get any man she wanted becasue she is so disturbed

plah

best movie she was in was monster in law and that was only funny when she was getting worked over by the monther in law!

ITA. One of the most enjoyable things I ever witnessed was watching Jane Fonda beat the poop out of J Lo!

Because she is SO busy nowadays.

I think she would have made a good crazy-b*tch, craziness w/ Cartier diamonds, THAT's entertainment (well all know the main audience will be gay men and thier female friends)

she need to choose her next project relly carrfully, because the 2 she already did seem like good movies. Two indies movie "Bordertown" and "el cantante".

I really like Jennifer, actually i've always thought she was a very attractive lady with mediocre acting skills and annoying music, but after watching 'inside the actor's studio', I just really found her to be endearing, she seems to have a lovely honest bubbly personality and she is a fantastic dancer who really has worked incredibly hard to get where she is. Reminds me of my sister quite a bit actually.

You should watch that inside the actor's studio (its up on youtube), it's very interesting how she worked with very good directors at the start of her career (Stone, Coppola etc).

Dallas just seems like a brand of Jessica Simpson tacky. :innocent:
