The fact that she is walking big shows after JPG just reinforces my beliefs that she was not available during the first few days of Paris. It sucks that she wasn't at YSL, but I'm not surprised. I had a feeling the cast would consist of newer faces. It's clear that she's being selective. If not, she would've walked the Giambattista Valli show yesterday.

^Yes. I think her and Karlie's involvement in the HOS re-launch is the main reason she hasn't walked much more than blue chip shows this season.

it's becoming annoying to read in this thread how everyone is exonerating her why she didn't walk few shows. Unfortunately, everyone knows it was a difficult season for black/ethnic models :/ get real!

^And I don't see why it's so crazy to think that a model of her status didn't have prior engagements. Both Joan & Karlie haven't been everywhere this whole season. I can put two & two together.

I think we'll never know the real reasons. In Paris i think she was busy with other stuff but in Milan guys she didn't Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Prada, Max Mara or Blumarine and she did Ports 1961 so i doubt she was selective. I was expecting a bit more after she was named N°1, like more opening and closing, she only opened Prabal Gurung if i'm not wrong. Anyway she's a black model and we have to remember this, for being a black model she's doing AMAZING. The most important thing is doing great in print and Joan is one of the best there.

Everyone knows that models of color are having a very difficult time booking work this season, however, when you look at past runway seasons even when the cast was 99% white, she would be the one model of color. At this point in her career, I don't think Joan has any problem booking shows. Of course there will always be the few that she won't book but you get real. Both Karlie and Joan have been doing minimal runways and those who pay attention to their careers know that the two of them are trying to balance fashion week with filming HOS for the premier on the 9th of this month.

My only problem with the ed is why does she look SO white? Don't use a woman of colour and use so much lighting and editing that the colour of her skin is completely different.
