After Tory Burch Spring 2013… I love that Joan has remained humble and gracious even after being ranked #1 by MDC days before this recent fashion week season had begun. What I like about Joan since the beginning is that she is honest and very proud of her Puerto Rican heritage as well as she is a very strong and independent young woman, who does stand up for herself and is not silent when something is off. The story of her rise to the top in high fashion has been remarkable — a result of hard work, dedication, motivation, and sacrifice combined with the support and belief of a very faithful and driven top model agent, Kyle Hagler of IMG.
In 2007, Joan appeared on the fashion radar signed with Elite Model. She walked New York Fashion Week, booking mostly second-tier shows and presentations. For years, Joan was overlooked and underrated by high fashion taste makers and worked predominately in the commercial market. Most of her work at that time was shooting for catalogs (money jobs without the prestige). At the end of 2009, she switched agency, leaving Elite for IMG. Things quickly changed. In January 2010, her breakthrough was walking the Givenchy Spring 2010 Haute Couture show in Paris. She then shot an Italian Vogue editorial with Steven Meisel. Following that, she booked the Gucci Pre-Fall 2010 and Givenchy Fall/Winter 2010 campaigns. The rest is history as she continues to add being the face of multiple international and prestigious brands to her resume: Roberto Cavalli, Giambattista Valli, Chanel, Fendi, Calvin Klein, David Yurman, Barneys New York, Rag & Bone, Lacoste, Gap, H&M, Mercedes Benz, and Stella McCartney. She also has a beauty contract with Estee Lauder. She walked in the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and will return for the 2012 show. What more can be written, but a lovely story and deserving career to be continued…![]()

It's hard to get press over the other two big events.
