Jonathan Anderson - Designer, Creative Director of J.W. Anderson & Loewe

Do you guys think Jonathan gonna keep Rachele Regini's, Maria Grazia daughter, within the company?
She is currently working as Dior cultural advisor, position that was deliberately created to get her in the company and work with her mother...LOL
She's probably leaving with her mother.

No. The new CDs always push for their crowd to work inside with them

The only problem with Jonathan is that he is a very conceptual and avant garde designer in a way that could be a disaster at a brand like Dior that is associated with a kind of timeless and classic elegance. Also he has never done Haute Couture before. Let's not forget Maria Grazia had years of experience working with Couture at Valentino before she was appointed at Dior.

I predict he will be a hit with the fashion crowd and the press, but he will flop commercially. His ideas are too challenging for the typical Dior customer.
I think he is going to be a success.
Dior will be part of the fashion conversation and people will buy it.
Conceptualism is not an issue if it’s backed up by a real desirable product.

And from his tenure at Loewe, we can say that he knows one or two things about desirable product. I also think that his versatility will be an asset for Dior.

For me, his challenge will be Haute Couture. Because Couture for some houses is not just a marketing exercise and they are making money, dressing clients, conceptualism can be a trap. Clients wants the runway look and Couture is the land of total creative freedom and expression so you have to find a good balance.

I think about all those crazy Dior by Galliano shows. When we discovered that the crazy ideas on the runway only translated to a small detail for the clients, it was a bit of a letdown.
