Jonathan Anderson - Designer, Creative Director of J.W. Anderson

Ten years and he managed to not get burnt and stay relevant… That’s impressive and one of the very few designers that has achieved such a feat.

Other designers like MGC or Demna run out of ideas in three shows and burnt their brands with the most terrible merch and with awful logomania.
Yes, but that's also because he presents 5 looks in 6 colorways each show LAMO
NG at Balenciaga, Anthony Vaccarello, and Chemena at Chloé use the same format

He finally announced it which means PS should be announced and then MGC should be announced within a month.
You think? Maybe yeah, but Dior’s perceived value hasn’t been so low in 3 years, maybe they want to rush a little?

In the last 2 weeks the have lost almost 13% despite not having a big issue in the brand. Kering lost 17% in two weeks after their awful decisions…

Maybe they might speed it up then. Obviously there's some movement going on behind the scenes now that he's been allowed to announce his departure.

Absolutely.
And to me that's a pity.
Loewe and some Celine aside, the fashion moments from the last 10 years came from Kering, not from LVMH.
The ones that took risks (sometimes to the point of a car crash, like at Brioni) were Kering.

Conglomerate fashion tends to be a little boring. Kering in bad shape is bad news to me, because LVMH reigning without concurrence is not exciting at all.
The problem in fact is moments. Moments is maybe good from a fashion standpoint but not great for creativity. And as Kering showed us, uncertainty is worse for creativity.

The Arnault stopped looking at Kering a long time ago. Even in terms of creativity. Vuitton’s bread and butter (bags) business is strong enough for the creative directors to be totally creative in their work.

The competition today for LVMH is Chanel and Hermes. Chanel has always been the blueprint for them. Dior is the direct competition to Chanel. Hermes is the ultimate brand in terms of control and integration but also perception.

I found it funny that Bernard Arnault made it known in the latest AG that Vuitton is the most exclusive brand because all the Vuitton products are only sold in Vuitton shops or shops in shops. Indeed, it’s totally true because Hermes sells their perfumes outside of their own network of stores. But the general perception of exclusivity when it comes to both brands is very different.

I think at some point, LVMH had the formula. 2014/2015 was a great time: NG at Vuitton, RT at Givenchy, RS at Dior, PD at Pucci, JWA at Loewe, KL at Fendi, PP at Celine, the relaunch of Moynat was working.

KERING had a great moment maybe around 2016/2017 with AM at Gucci, DG at Balenciaga and SB at McQueen.

But LVMH has that secret weapon that is Delphine. I think she is the asset because she understand fashion. So they are much more reactive. The big heads at LVMH cares about fashion so even if the business school people they decides to work with are trash it doesn’t matter.

At Kering it seems like everybody is clueless. What happened with Ancora is something we could expect from Rochas and Nina Ricci. With the number of employees, stores and all at stake, it looks like they are literally gambling with their cash cow. And to see at the same time Pinault parade around Hollywood people doesn’t send the best message.

Guys, is it true that Jonathan k*ll*d his pet dog?? Somebody said this here on tfs and I never forgot it. If its true, he's trash actual garbage. I hope its a lie.
I've heard this too, many times. Such a vicious rumour to make up. But why would someone make something like that up???

At least it feels that now the musical chair mess is coming to a close and back to normal levels.
