In addition to being married four times, Josephine also had many affairs (some rumored to be same-sex...I read on a website that Greta Garbo and her had an affair, and made love under the Eiffel Tour! )

Here she is pictured with Belgian author Georges Joseph Christian Simenon, with whom she had affair from 1926-1927. Note that Simenon's wife is on the far left.

How lovely! Supposedly she spoke in English with a French accent, and when she ate dinner at the White House, one of the black maids brought up the accent thing and said that she should talk the way she was born to talk. But Josephine just said that that was how she talked in English.

I live in St Louis, which is where Josephine Baker was born, and this summer a gallery here is having a Josephine Baker exhibit!!!!! A local university is also having a Josephine Baker film festival. I can't wait!

Lucky! I've only seen "Princesse Tam Tam", she's so beautiful in it! I also want to see "La Sirene des Tropiques". Has anyone else seen any of her movies?
