Jourdan Dunn is Pregnant!

"Congratulations" is the last word I'd use in this kind of situation.

It's going to be tough for Ms. Dunn to juggle motherhood AND making it in the fickle fashion industry. Add that to her young age and it's a recipe for disaster. I don't care if so-and-so-model made it work - it is an enormously difficult challenge to be a mother at such a young age, when you yourself are just beginning to understand and create your identity, and figure out what you want and what you want to do in life.

this is just upsetting, and not just because she is a model.
it is disturbing because young girls are making wrong decisions...pregnancy is a big deal, and young girls should be aware of the risks. this was obviously unplanned, as she is so young and there is not mention of a long term boyfriend.
perhaps this is a prime example of young girls thrown into adult situations like modelling when they are not ready as they are still children...

The Style.com article is really strange. They don't name their source, they just say that she is pregnant as though we were supposed to have already known. Meanwhile, no other website has reported it. If she was "due in December" than she'd be 5 months pregnant.

***EDIT***, but she just does not look five months pregnant there. Who knows? Maybe she is pregnant, on the other hand, someone asked Sessilee Lopez if Jourdan Dunn was pregnant and she never answered. And, on July 15th Sessilee Lopez wrote "Pray for me a safe flight home, drama free and hopefully no one will give birth on this flight!" So, if she is pregnant, let me remind you that Liya Kebede had her son when she was 21, I believe, and she's still working.

^ Same here! My jaw dropped when i first saw the news on style.com but still i absolutely wish her a healthy and happy pregnancy! And i agree with the examples of Natalia, Liya, Heidi and Yasmin, but ptobably what scares the most is that they were all married or with a stable relationship..which, maybe not the marriage, could be the same for our Jourdan. In my opinion she's way too young. I am a year younger then her and just the thought of a pregnancy scares me..but i guess i should be happy for her because she's mature enough to handle it!

i agree about style not mentioning the source... but it is pretty left field to make up rumors, especially about models cause no one really knows them, so why would someone bother to make it up so that is why i think that it must be true.
i don't think the Sessilee quote has anything to do with Jourdan, as she is definatley not even close to giving birth. that picture however, gives us no clues, ***EDIT***
IMHO i think there is a huge difference between and 18 year old and a 21 year old, as in Liya's case....

Didn't Natalia have her son when she was like 18/19?.
I'm not too worried for Joudan, she's definitely young but so are many women who have brought up children with good, solid values while still managing to live and enjoy their own lives.. it's not too catastrophic.
Best wishes for her and hope she's back in business sooner than expected.

Indeed, that was also Natalia's path. And from what it's looking like Vogue are definitely on her side, mentioning her name with Karolina and Gisele. So I would not worry about her career....

I think Jourdan seems very very sensible, and just because we haven't heard of a boyfriend doesn't mean that there isn't one. It is possible that she didn't want to draw attention to him. Even if she isn't in a relationship, it is possible to be a very successful single mum (even at 18).

I'm not worried about her career. She has accomplished much more than many other models by getting that Maybelline campaign so early in her career - that is huge and it pays very well.

Her career isn't over. She's not the first or last young model to be pregnant. Heidi Mount had her baby in the beginning of her modeling career (fw06-ss08) she came back strong and she's booking shows, campaigns now. i'm very postive that this will be a good hiatus.

I totally agree with you, plenty of models have stopped their careers for numerous of reasons and have had VERY strong comebacks. Im sure Jourdan will still be after in the fashion world after the birth of her baby, UNLESS she doesnt want to.

It would be awesome if she did a couple of shows preggo this upcoming Spring 2010 season, it would be exclusive and oh course she will be in flats.

And I am appalled that people would treat this situation so lightly. It's not about whether she's an adult, whether she's legal, whether she wants to keep it. It's about a young girl having to face a situation like this and make decisions before she's fully mature and ready to do so. She's 18/19! Most people that age are still trying to figure out their own identity!

Of course it may be that Ms. Dunn is in a very stable relationship and planned to get pregnant and have a child, but looking at her career's trajectory, this comes at a very inopportune time and odds are it wasn't planned.

Plus, it's the modeling industry. Shady enough when it comes to young girls as it is.

She's going to turn 19 in August 3rd. This was something that I wouldn't expect from a girl like her, that's so mature & intelligent ... but things happen & can we come back in time? No. So better not think about the past because it's not worth since you can't change anything, what's done is done. I wish her all the best & if everything turns out alright she will come back in the next SS 11 season in September, 2010.

I think some of the stuff being written is very harsh. I'm sure nobody here knows her enough to be the judge of whether or not she's ready/mature enough to handle a kid. If she is pregnant then good luck to her, I'm sure it's hardly something she's taking lightly.
