I hope Jourdan doesn`t read this thread, if she really is pregnant. There`s so little hope given for her career. Guys, she`s young, her body will recover easily, she`s more energetic than moms 10-15 years older.

I just don`t believe that designers who know love her, would give up only because of motherhood, it`s all up to her in the end of the day.

And we`re living 21st century, so even moms are allowed to have jobs

She struggles to get campaigns as it is, battling against all the ridiculous prejudices in the fashion industry. Having to stop modelling for a while is definitely going to hinder her career.

A couple of thoughts, some of which has been mentioned before:

1. On maturity and age - she's 18. And I honestly don't care how *emotionally mature* or *sensible* she's is supposed to be, a pregnancy at this point in time, at this age, in this moment of her career. No way do i think she's mature enough or old enough to handle it. Or that it was a wise decision- if it was a decision at all (seems unplanned to me).

I'm queasy enough that she didn't use protection or whatnot, but having a child - that's just such an entirely different ball game. It's another life to look after, you pretty much have to change priorities entirely, of course it's not the end of the world - life is wonderful, but the life of another is also something that takes a helluva lot of work, and sacrifice.

2. on all the examples of other models: Natalia, Heidi Mount etc. As far as I know they were all married or engaged when they had their child. Natalia's case isn't comparable at all imo, she was in a steady relationship (if not already married) to Justin- who comes from an aristocratic family, was and is incredibly wealthy, and therefore there was absolutely nothing to worry about if her career didn't get back on track. A large part o the reason her career did get back on track so successfully was the "fairytale" aspect of her relationship with Justin. A young russian teenager, plucked from obscurity, marries an aristocrat. I don't know who Jourdan's partner is, but i highly doubt that she has anywhere near the same level of security that Natalia has. In any case, i would make the weaker argument that the two cases aren't comparable.

As for her career- spells doomsday for me. She's already facing prejudices as has been mentioned before. But in addition, the fashion industry is fickle, come-backs dont' always work, the it face of now will be forgotten for the face of tomorrow, what's going to guarantee that she will be remembered or embraced by the industry?

Hype, generated from one cover or one campaign generates more hype and so on. the impact of a break kills off the hype right away. who knows if she'll get it back?

Anyway, I wish her a healthy pregnancy, and best of luck to her. Obviously i have no idea how her career will pan out, or if she even wants to continue modelling post-pregnancy (who knows, her priorities could change), but good luck whatever she pursues.

^^^ I agree ladyflash. Jordan was the beacon of light for black models. Her debut at Prada, was arguably the catalyst for people to notice the lack of diversity in the fashion world.

Jordan had the best opportunities ever; she had a Vogue Italia cover, the support of Steven Meisel, the support of Anna Wintour (notoriously fastidious with her choice of models), the support of Miuccia Prada. What more could a model ask for?

With Heidi Mount the circumstances were different. Jourdan did not and will probably not have the same opportunities. It's unfair, yes, but the industry is what it is and by choosing to go ahead with this pregnancy its almost as if shes giving a big 'stuff you' to all the people that helped her along the way. Its disappointing on many levels, no?

i do agree it was a bit random and out of nowhere but let's think positively (because it's 'too late' to be negative now)... she's 19 years old in the top of her good metabolism, so her body will go back to what it was in no time. and who says she's killing her career, look at natalia vodianova, she's had a kid since she started and a couple more on the way and she's doing just fine imo

Wow you guys are mean, she's not your child she is a model. She has her own life outside of fashion, and personally I am very happy for her. She's great happy and healthy. Also her career will be just fine everyone is so excited and can't wait to welcome him into the world!!!! And Jourdan when you do read this know that you are great and I love you very much.

Well I'm not judging her, I just don't see how people can not realise that this is LIKELY to seriously mess up her career.

And to the people who keep mentioning models who are also mothers, of course they exist. Kate Moss, Angela Lindvall, Natalia Vodianova... but as far as I know, none of them got pregnant about a year into their careers...
