Sherlock Holmes And The Mystery Of The Missing Hair: Jude Law reveals dramatic bald patch on the beach at Cannes



He's long been accused of being follicularly challenged - and Jude Law's hair line definitely appeared to be all at sea on a beach break in Cannes yesterday.

The 38-year-old Sherlock Holmes star is having some time off on a well-earned break after being a judge at the city's legendary film festival - but it appears that his hair has done a bunk too.

It appears his locks have receded all the way back to his crown with just a small tufty island marooned on the front half of his scalp.

Beach body: Hair or not, Jude was still looking rather lithe as he relaxed by the Mediterranean
Father-of-four Jude, who had a daughter after a short relationship with American model Samantha Burke, has long had a rather dramatic widow's peak.


But it appeared that the tide had receded even further as he sat by the pool, despite rumours that he's previously had a hair transplant.
Curiously, he appeared to have a full head of hair throughout the 64th film festival, including numerous appearances on the red carpet and a stint as host at the AmfAR gala.

All at sea: The star soaked up the sun at one point on a floating pontoon at the Eden Roc hotel at Cap D'Antibes

But whatever the state of his crowning glory, the star - who's the face of Dior - was still showing off a very fit body as he relaxed on the shores of the Mediterranean in the south of France.

The single star, who split from Sienna Miller in February, was wearing bright yellow swimming shorts as he chilled at the Eden Roc hotel at Cap D'Antibes.

Fit: Jude was sporting banana-coloured swimming shorts and some pretty impressive pecs


Jude meanwhile has a long run of films due to hit cinema screens soon, showing that unlike Samson, lack of hair hasn't impacted on his box office power.

He's in sci-fi action thriller Contagion along with Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Marion Cotillard and Matt Damon in October, then starring alongside Johnny Depp, Emily Mortimer, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Lee and Richard Griffiths in 1930s period drama Hugo Cabret, which opens in December.

Also in December, the eagerly-anticpated sequel in the Sherlock Holmes reboot Game Of Shadows, in which he stars alongside Robert Downey Jr hits the screens.

The all-action detective thriller also stars Stephen Fry, Noomie Rapace, Jared Harris, Geraldine James, Eddie Marsan and Rachel McAdams.
Meanwhile, Jude's ex wife Sadie Frost - the mother of his children Rafferty, 14, Iris, 10, Rudy, eight, and his stepson Finlay, 20 - has revealed she's got a new tattoo.
The 45-year-old hinted on her Twitter that it was something to do with her children, writing: 'Tattoo starting now.. Ouch- love the pain! Colouring in my Iris...'
