Junya Watanabe Menswear F/W 2022.23 Paris

I was about to ask if this was inspired by Jamiroquai. I love the presentation and Jamiroquai and Jay Kay have always been ahead of their time.

Where’s the outrage over the Mexican and Indigenous prints being used? Why isn’t everyone pissed off? Is Junya going to start at charity initiative to make up for this great offense to the native people of South America? If he hasn’t, he’s incredibly insensitive and imperialistic. Has he learned nothing from Isabel Marant?! What a pig he is! F*CK!

Reportedly Junya went to the trouble of consulting with Mexico’s Secretariat of Culture. You can do better.

On a more cynical note, he’s not white nor European, a point in his favor. Mexicans don’t tend to view east-Asians as a threat of pure imperialism.

I loved the presentation but it’s a tad too literal and I don’t feel like I could ever wear most of this without feeling like I’m in costume.
