Karl Lagerfeld - Photographer

I love Karl as a photographer, but I was so dissapointed when I saw this editorial from Numero! It is beyond ugly. It is a total loss of top models material for such laughable pages, they look absurd!

you are SOOO wrong;
this is called art,
freaking models are nothing without a photographer, it's just stupid that today models get more recognition and fame than the photographers that shot them
do we know who are the women on Modigliani's paintings? no, because they are just material that was transformed into art
karl created absolutely beautiful pieces of art, i can't even call it photography, because it's way more

and if you think that the cheesy studio shots on white background [with so called topmodels] are better than this, sorry, you don't get art

ridiculous!

ops;) do not take it so personal.
Karl is a true artist, but for me art is a word that sums up lots of ugly things, created by many people who call themselves artists.
I guess Karl takes too many photos every day and he can try to make such strange ugly images.
It is my personal opinion and I see nothing in those images, but ugliness.
The photographers and the artists are NOTHING without the models, so I can use the same arguments against your opinion, so let's not be mean.
and why do we have to coimpaire studio images on a white background with anything. You should not copaire things, it is very funny to say this is better than this. It will be only your personal opinion.
Art should not be judged at all, but those Numero photos are not ART for me. They are some ugly trials of a very talented photographer.
His similar attempts with the same effects with Karen Elson in 1997 were much better, which can be close to art, but this crap is no art to me, it is just plain ugly.
I do love the photographer and I do love all the models appearing in the editorial. i have seen them all in real and it is a shame they take part in such an ugly project!

it's useless to try to explain something to you, really...

You must really be a big Lagerfeld fan if you think those photos should be considered "Art". He's produced numerous inverted photos before, so that just crosses out his sense of originality, and to me that's the first sign of artistic photography, originality. I would not even put that type of photography at the same level of Sally Mann or Richard Avedon. He's a genius and a fashion photographer, and it pretty much ends there. Ofcourse his Couture work is different, and even then, it's questionable whether people can justifiably call him an "artist", especially when he produces the same black and white basic clothing season after season.

To each their own, I guess.

Art or not, I really dislike this Numéro edito.

???

it's useless to try to explain something to you, really...

are you calling me brainless or what???
as you can see, other people who have commented also do not seem to like this trashy editorial.

i didn't say it, you said it yourself
i meant that you're 36 and your views on life will never change,
it really doesn't matter to me if people like it or not,
karl wouldn't be as big as he is if he wasn't a genius,
and random people from internet will not change it.

you are as random as I am!
that was a very mean thing to say. You certanly do not accept(let alone respect) other people's opinions. Not that anybody should care.
Karl is a genius and I would never question that, but I am free to express my opinion when a random guy like you calls this Numero editorial ART. It was so funny that i could not help, but comment on it.
and please, stop replying to what I write on that subject! Thanks in advance!

Being a genius doesn't mean being an artist. However, being an artist, does require being a genius. Karl, to me, is not in anyway a photographic genius.

The old order of fashion is dead, no matter how bad Lagerfeld's collections and photographs are, no major journalist or critic will criticize his work. Why? Because he is the designer for Chanel and everyone wants to kiss his *** so they can get free merchandise.

I'm still not sure about this Numéro editorial... somedays I like it... some not so much. Everyone receives their information in different ways & each individuals experience & perception is one example of many. Our views may differ... but this is a forum to discuss fashion, photography, art & ideas... not a place to put people down or make them feel stupid. What possible benefit could come of that?

the beneft that I felt really stupid and down expressing my opinion for a person I respect very much!
But I guess that's the price for being here, sometimes we will have our little "fights";))

i didn't mean to make you feel stupid, so sorry if you do
and i know that i'm a random person too now, but i still thik it was harsh to say its the ugliest thing you've ever seen, when it's so artistic, not only the way he edited the photos but the colours, the poses [which i'm sure wasn't these "top models" idea] and the composition
i don't know, just don't get it

oh well, luckily everyone's entitled to their own opinion;)

I personally do not like the editorial, it is artistic but not beautiful. I don't really enjoy looking at it.
