Model Musings
Reid walks Tibi, Steffe, Rodarte, and Som

(NEW YORK) Tuesday: I started the day with a 6:00 a.m. call time for the Tibi show. Once again, the hair and makeup was really pretty for this show—the makeup was something I would probably wear myself. After getting all of the models ready, it was time for first looks. This show was lots of fun because the music was great and they wanted us to just go out and have fun on the runway and swing our arms, rather than the normal model walk with still arms and no hips. After the show, they let us all keep the shoes, which were great Stuart Weitzmans. We also got to keep the beanie, which is a big help since it is so cold here right now. Both my mother agent, Kelly Streit, as well as my booker from IMG, Lisa DiRuocco, joined my mom to watch the show and said that it was great!
After the Tibi show, I hung out for a while and grabbed lunch before going to the Daryl Roth Theatre for the Rodarte show. Their clothes are amazing and so unique. My friend Heather was in the show, so I finally got to see her for a little while this week. Although the show was scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., it started closer to 6:30 or 6:45, which made my day a little more hectic, as I had another show across town starting at 7:00.
After quickly finishing the show and getting dressed, I met up with the two other girls that were doing the Cynthia Steffe show with me. We found the car that was sent for us, and after getting stuck in gridlock traffic and listening to the rep from Cynthia Steffe arguing with the driver for having five passengers in the car, we made it to Exit Art for the show.
Since we were so late, hair, makeup, and nails were all done at once—in about five minutes, as all the guests were already seated and waiting and Ali and I were first and second in the lineup. We quickly ran upstairs to get changed and the show started. I had three outfits and got to close the show. My favorite was my first outfit, which was a cropped leather jacket and a cute white and black top with black and white shorts.
After the show, I jumped in a cab, ready to go grab dinner with my mom, but halfway to Union Square my agency called and I was re-directed to Vivienne Tam for another fitting. When I got to the office there was quite a wait, and after about two-and-a-half hours I was finally fitted, and on my way home to bed so I could start all over again tomorrow.
Wednesday: Today started with a little later call time for the Peter Som show, so I arrived to the promenade tent at Bryant Park at about 7:30 a.m. I had done looks for Peter Som, so I had an idea of what to expect from his show. The hair was very simple, with a slicked-back but messy bun, and the makeup was meant to make our skin look like that of a newborn baby.
After the Peter Som show, I went by my agency to get the rest of my schedule for the day and comp cards and then was off to 3 castings before going back to the tents for the Vivienne Tam show. The hair was put in a high pony, wrapped in 2 different types of fabric, and then twisted around into sort of a bun type of thing on our heads. The makeup was really pretty with sort of smoky eyes. My outfits were both pretty cool—the first was a grey dress and the second was a tan and blue patterned dress with a really pretty black silk and fur coat. The show went really well and two girls from home were actually in the show, too (Anna W. and Marla B.).
Its about 7:30 now, and since I don't have any more castings or shows, I am having dinner in Times Square and taking full advantage of being done early today.
