She might have split from her boyfriend Leandro Penna, but Katie Price looked anything but heartbroken as she headed out last night. The 33-year-old glamour model was spotted enjoying her newly-single status as she hit the town with best friend Gary Cockerill to celebrate his birthday at London pub The Punchbowl.
Dressed in a black minidress with sexy cut-out panels, Katie looked happy and relaxed as she celebrated with her friend. After celebrating at the Punchbowl, Katie returned to Gary's house where she later emerged in a completely different outfit - a printed T-shirt and leather hotpants - before meeting Lisa Voice at The Playboy Club for more partying.
Katie's night out comes after news broke that she had split from 26-year-old toyboy Leandro, just days after he gave an interview gushing about his love for her and revealing his hopes for marriage and a family.
The language barrier between the Brighton-raised reality star and Argentine model was one of the primary reasons for the split, according to reports. Just yesterday an interview Leandro gave was published in which he said: 'We have a project of a family.'
'She is the woman who I love and want to protect and care for her. I want to be at peace enjoying our lives.'
But according to the Sunday Mirror, the couple called time on their seven-month relationship this week over the phone.
'Katie knew in her heart that it was coming. She’s being very adult about the split and says she didn’t see it as a long-term relationship that would lead to marriage and kids,' a source told the Mirror. 'But she will miss him. The language barrier was ultimately the problem for them.'
According to reports, the couple were still having to use translators to understand each other seven months into the relationship.
The last time Katie mentioned her boyfriend on Twitter was at the start of September when she said she was missing him while he was in London with his family. The couple previously tweeted each other constantly.
According to the Mirror, Penna travelled with his family to New York and extended his trip to Miami to visit his brother. He was spotted earlier this month looking lonely as he kept fit with a morning jog along the beach in Miami. In his interview Leandro said he'd been in the US looking at work opportunities, however it appears as though he may have also been gaining some distance.
(Leandro) doesn’t speak good English, she’s been busy on book and magazine *signings across the country and he’s bored out of his mind. It’s sad – but it was for the best that he goes home,' a source told the Mirror.
Penna was certainly whistling a different tune when he discussed Katie in his interview, denying the ongoing rumours of trouble in paradise. Brushing off reports he was seeking a £2million pre-nup before tying the knot, he added: 'If tomorrow we marry, it's because we feel right.'
He said their relationship was 'better than ever' and dismissed suggestions they had been rowing and the gifts he brought back for Katie from Miami were peace offerings. 'There's no problems at all, things are very well. The best we have ever been,' he insisted.
Katie and Leandro quickly sparked a relationship after meeting at Elton John's Oscars party in La in February, just weeks after her split from second husband Alex Reid.
