Keeping up with the Trumps

From E! Online...Key term seems to be 'Not being held to the same standards of accuracy' ;)

Do we really need to take Donald Trump seriously as a presidential candidate?
—Early V., Wisconsin

Well, there's one celebrity who is definitely taking the whole Trump-for-president freak show seriously:
And that's Donald Trump.
If 10 minutes went by without someone turning a camera on him, Donald's coif would implode. The force of the catastrophe would create an unholy singularity lined unto infinity with photos of Donald Trump.
And no one wants that.
The latest bluster comes via the New York Times. During an interview, Trump teases, "On May 22, we have our live finale. That will be a two-hour live finale, from either Lincoln Center or at Skirball hall at New York University. They both want it. I think it will be at N.Y.U. Sometime prior to the firing, I may say, that on such and such a date, on such and such a time, probably at Trump Tower, on 56th to 57th street on Fifth Avenue, I will make my decision as to whether I run for president, by the end of the show."
In other words, he plans to announce that he aims to discuss perhaps one day talking about running for president—so tune in to The Apprentice finale to witness the first step of this historical miracle!
Or not.
Sure, Americans have a history of sending already-famous people to the White House, so the idea isn't that crazy. Plus, remember he's run twice before.
"Americans have long elected celebrities as president," points out Jamie Miller, a political consultant with Florida-based Battleground Group. "Probably 20 percent of our presidents have had level of celebrity; really, just about every generation has elected a celebrity."
And early polling does seem to indicate some respect for Trump, if not adoration.
"Trump is a distant second to Mitt Romney in New Hampshire right now," notes Andrew Smith, professor of political science and director of the survey center at the University of New Hampshire.
But let's dig deeper than that. Let's suppose that Trump does eventually announce a win.
Don't expect his ego to get much further than that—and certainly not all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
"It's going to be more of a flash in the pan, largely because businessmen without any political experience do poorly in national elections," Smith says.
"Trump right now is not being held to the same standards of accuracy that all political candidates are. We're putting up with him now because it's fun and games, but in terms of him being a serious candidate, he will fade as soon as he gets into the heat of a regular election season. And in the end, he won't be treated seriously."
Let's hope the good professor is right.

What a trainwreck. How much money does he have to waste on this bid? Doesn't it take $1 billion to get elected?

^ It was very unlike him to do that, Donald always gets a ribbing at public events; I have never seen him react (or not react) like that....that sort of thin skin is never going to cut it on the campaign trail... I've said it before- he is used to calling the shots with the media- they want his advertising, his ratings, the large number of sales when his face is on the magazine cover and so on, people have been afraid to take him on, but obviously that has changed at this point...This is where you find out how really tough you are, tough guy.. B)

Yeah well he really didn't take well the correspondent dinner..and really didn't like Seth Meyers!

I really hope the professor is right but to be honest I really don't see how anyone could take seriously someone whose sole purpose has more to do with being in the limelight than actually trying to find solutions for his country.. Where is the program? Plus where will he find money? Obama is supposed to have at least 1 billion to run again.. But as someone said it, it will be fun to see Palin and Trump on a debate. None of them have a "good" or "normal" understanding of what's going on right now in the world and in the USA

^ The strangest thing is- the world's smartest and most successful businessman is hurting his own business with all of this! One of his national sponsors pulled their advertising from The Celebrity Apprentice last week, and a nationwide organization of travel agents is meeting in Las Vegas to consider ending bookings for his many hotels, due to his stands on abortion, anti gay marriage and so on...Several of the successful hotels in Vegas are making big marketing promotions to attract Gay and Lesbian groups, making sure they will feel comfortable and welcome at their places- obviously not an issue at the Trump Las Vegas, which is 25% sold out and a ghost town most of the time...Way to go, big guy- not only will this farce get you nowhere, but you are turning huge segments of the country against you and wrecking your brand name as well!!

The World's Smartest Businessman continues his hugely successful public relations campaign...

Trump and Palin Continue Their Grim Slide

We don't know who will be the next President of the United States, but the evidence of who will not be is piling up in public polls. The most recent survey comes from Quinnipiac University. It shows that roughly 60 percent of Americans would not vote for Donald Trump or Sarah Palin for president. This finding confirms a recent Gallup Poll, which found that roughly two-thirds of Americans would not vote for Mr. Trump or Mrs. Palin.

Whatever the exact number is today (or tomorrow), it is now clear that a majority of Americans have rejected the Trump and Palin candidacies out of hand.
Adding insult to injury, the Indianapolis Star reports that pressure is building on the Indianapolis 500 officials to dump Mr. Trump as the driver of this year's pace car. This year's Indy 500 will be the 100th running of the race.

Donald Trump Dumps Indy 500 Duties as Presidential Announcement Looms

Donald Trump just can't stop firing people—including himself.
The Celebrity Apprentice boss man and self-fancied politico has bowed out of his duties as the pace car driver for this month's Indianapolis 500.
Though the withdrawal comes in the wake of both a mounting, viral Facebook campaign against his appearance and a political backlash spawned in the wake of his brutal mockery at the White House Correspondents Dinner last week, Trump failed to mention either of those as reasons for his pull-out.
So what was to blame?
Why, his possible and long-threatened run at the presidency, that's what. Apparently, prepping for the race would infringe on Trump's process of pondering his candidacy—of which, incidentally, he says he will soon be announcing his final decision.

In the meantime, you can stop your calls for him to release proof that he does in fact possess a legal United States driver's license. Clever as that was.
"I very much appreciate the honor, but time and business constraints make my appearance there, especially with the necessary practice sessions, impossible to fulfill," he told Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials.
"I look forward to watching the race from New York."
No doubt plenty of newly-placated Indy fans feel the same way—but not necessarily the head honchos over at IMS.
"Donald Trump has been very enthusiastic about the 500 from the beginning of our conversations, and I have appreciated the interaction we have had with him and his staff," president and CEO Jeff Belskus said. "From my first conversation, I was impressed by his deep understanding of the event and history and I thank him for being a true fan."
No replacement has yet been announced for Trump, but they'd better hurry—the 2011 Indy 500 is set to run May 29. And whoever they choose better be good: this month's event is especially important for Indy fans as it marks the race's centennial year.

It's hard to be Donald Trump

In one of his many curse-bombs, Trump lamented the nation's focus on building schools in war-torn Afghanistan, while neglecting education in the United States.
He said he would not help struggling nations such as South Korea or Libya without payment and promised to use swear words while negotiating with China.
Here's an excerpt highlighting what Haley had to say about Trump's penchant to curse to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Q: I’m sure the f-word is said [in] your state, but I also assume that people don’t like it said in public.
A: We are very polite in South Carolina. And very respectful.
I would hope that all of our candidates understand that before they come here.

^ The strangest thing is- the world's smartest and most successful businessman is hurting his own business with all of this!
You know, I've been wondering about how his public PR immolation was affecting his business, so thank you for the info.

I know that Trump is probably the kind of egomaniac who thinks there is no such thing as bad publicity, but when your whole business model depends on your reputation (since we know that what he really sells is Brand Trump and not any real-estate project he actually own), I think it's extremely unwise to court too much bad publicity.

There is a difference between being an absurd looking loudmouth with tacky style, and being exposed as a probable bigot with crackpot political agenda who is being defecated on a nation-wide scale by people the public actually take seriously.

I recently read that he was booed by the gawkers outside the Met Gala; the same New-Yorkers who would have cheered for him just three months ago, so now I'm curious to see how he re-invent himself after this fiasco. His whole 'thing' is being a larger-than-life buffoon and he made the mistake of trying to play in the same playground as the serious people. I hope for his sake he goes back to his own element and stay there before he loses the last of his business cred.

PS: I know it's unfair to judge her, but I have so much less respect for Ivanka now, considering the praise she always heaves onto her father. I never knew he was quite this insane and prejudiced, and I can't help thinking she must be the same, now.

Wow- this is a new one on me; I remember the project but never heard the details...Financing questions, big promises with no money to back them, accounting irregularities, bankruptcy- sounds like the good old days in Atlantic City! Man- how many of these tales are going to be dragged up and questioned with his 'Presidential Run'???

Humm- this could be match point....NBC is holding a big press conference on Monday announcing it's Fall Schedule; if the Apprentice is on it, Donald would not be able to file as a Presidential Candidate, since someone running can not have their own TV show...

Simply amazing...!!

NBC Offers Trump $60 Million for Next 'Apprentice'

Donald Trump could be walking away from a cool $60 million if he decides to run for the GOP presidential nomination. NBC is pushing the real estate magnate/reality show star to get off the dime on whether he will stay with his popular, and lucrative, “Apprentice” franchise or run for the highest office in the land, the New York Post reports.

Trump has indicated that he will announce his decision after the finale of “Celebrity Apprentice,” which airs on May 22. However, NBC wants to know before it presents its fall lineup Monday. Sources tell the Post that NBC has been “calling Trump every hour” with offers of $60 million to stay with the show.

That’s not just chump change, even for Trump. “American Idol” judges pull down about $10 million, and Simon Cowell, $30 million for the “X Factor.”

It’s unclear whether the $60 million is for one or more years, the Post reported.

Is there anything this guy isn't capable of lying about!?? Incredible!

Reset your DVRs! You can make that Sunday night dinner with mom after all: Contrary to his own personally advanced hype, Donald Trump will not be making any kind of announcement about his presidential plans on the Celebrity Apprenticeseason finale.
The ratings-deflating news was delivered to National Journal on Tuesday by Sharon Pannozzo, publicity director for NBC Entertainment, who sounded a little miffed with The Donald’s false advertising.
“The show this weekend [part one of the finale] was taped back in November, and next week’s episode is also taped,” Pannozzo said. “So there will be no opportunity for him to do something like that.”

What? Didn’t Trump himself suggest to The New York Times that he’d be delivering the news—or at least news of when and where he’d deliver the news—of his presidential plans on the show?
“I am thinking of saying on the live finale of The Apprentice on May 22 that in a few days I will be making an announcement about my decision,” Trump told the Times.”I might ask the two finalists if I should run for president. Of course, if they’re intelligent they’ll have to say yes, since I’m about to fire one of them.”
Not exactly, according to the show’s publicist. “There will be no announcement,” Pannozzo said. “It’s just misinformation on his part.” Pannozzo insists there will be no live segments of the show. Asked about Pannozzo’s comments, Trump spokesman Michael Cohen confirmed to National Journal: “Mr. Trump will not be making any announcement during the finale of The Apprentice.”
This will definitely come as a major disappointment to Trump watchers: Newsmax was the first to report last month that Trump “plans to say on the NBC show that he will be holding a press conference in the next few days … [where] he will be announcing whether he will run for the presidency.” Cohen confirmed that news to National Journal, just before Trump himself teased the prospect to the Times.
But the final episodes of Celebrity Apprentice were pre-taped in the fall—before any serious buzz developed about a Trump candidacy and definitely before Trump began hinting at an announcement on the show’s finale.
So was the whole thing just an enormous publicity stunt?

I am starting to feel sorry for the kids- the bleeding has turned into hemorrhaging...He needs to end this comical 'Presidential Run' nonsense and work on getting the company image straightened out...One of the research companies said he is running a 4.5/1 ratio of people who distrust and dislike him...How many lawsuits and borderline fraud cases will it take before people say I'm not risking my money on anything he sells! :(
Although I'm sure the writer is a moron, a total loser, here is today's offering, which goes with the piece in the local paper on how the casino company may have to try and sell another of his run down properties to stay afloat...The world's greatest businessman indeed...

Oh NO!! Will this mean maybe months more of this charade!!? "Well, I'm thinking about it! As you know- I'm number one in the polls (Not true), I have the number one TV show (Not true) and everybody is after me to run (completely NOT true) so we'll see- maybe by the Fall I will make my announcement, after I make enemies of most of the people in this country and finish totally destroying my image and my business reputation..."

NBC Renews ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

At this point it looks like Donald Trump won’t run for president anyway, but just in case you were worried: NBC has renewed Celebrity Apprentice and says it will bring someone new in to helm the franchise, should Trump make a White House bid. “We will bring the show back and have someone else at the head of the boardroom table,” NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said in a conference call Sunday. “[Celebrity Apprentice] is too strong a franchise for us not to consider that." He did not say who, specifically, NBC has in mind as a replacement.

i don't think anyone really cares to keep up with the trumps as much as you do...
are you secretly part of trump's PR team...?!...

^ Well there are several others I hear from about these issues, and yes- I worked for and around the Trump Organization for quite a while....I have no idea where you are, but in the greater NY and Atlantic City areas these things are major daily front page news...As as with my last several interactions with the powers that be on TFS, I have a very simple solution to the entire situation -------------------------------
Thanks for your input; I am certain my time can be better spent elsewhere....
