Hi everyone,

Vintage fashion magazines are disappearing slowly and it won't be too many more years before the eras of fashion I love so much are gone forever.

Many of the best magazines from that era are sometimes very expensive to purchase.

I'm just canvassing opinions here but how would all the vintage magazine fans feel about a kick starter to raise money to purchase some of the more expensive ones on eBay?

We could all nominate someone who has very good scanning capabilities to purchase the magazines and post the pictures on here.

Some of the folks on here have posted absolutely incredible scans over the years but I imagine there are many publications that perhaps due to availibilty or scarcity have eluded everyone.

If enough people donated even a small amount, we could probably purchase beautiful magazines like the one below. Imagine really high quality scans of some of the most iconic images from decades gone by!

I don't have a scanner so it wouldn't be me, I'm afraid. Maybe kelles or justaguy would be interested?

Anyway, it's just an idea at the moment but if you're interested or have any suggestions, please post here.

Take it easy, guys.

Love the idea, but I wouldn't be able to work on this. Firstly, my work schedule is very unpredictable and secondly, I have not been able to scan since I downloaded Mavericks to my Mac.

That's okay. I understand. Thanks for getting back to me.

Your picture contributions in the various threads are amazing and I will always be grateful for whatever you can do.

I have substantial scanning capabilities.
I own many magazines, and I'm trying to tear most of them apart to scan.
I own a couple of issues of Max, but this issue doesn't interest me.
I procrastinate way too much.
I would love to do it, but those reasons may set me back.

I don't tear the magazines... I use a hair dryer so the glue in it kind of "melt" and NO more damaged pages :D

Obsession, OMG great idea!
On the other hand, my scanner (Kodak cheapie) is an A4 and I'd much rather splurge on an A3 so we see *everything*.

Sorry but this isn't for me. I like to do my own thing at my own pace depending on what is going on in my life. Magazines have been my hobby since I was a child - so I will continue to scan & upload as a cathartic stress release from the daily grind! Glad that you enjoy.

Heated an issue of the Face with a hairdryer. Success.

By the way, you do heat the spine for 2-5 minutes. I also heated pages when the magazine was open as well. Maybe I should be daring and try with a book soon...

No worries, kelles. I'm grateful for whatever you can manage whenever you get time.
