Kim Jones - Designer

I truly hope he will take all of it. Somehow I can't (or to be honest, don't want to) see him doing just womenswear. Mens is such a key part of his design identity, even in terms of creative direction, that I'd find it weird to see it go. Unless he's fine just exploring it at JWA...

Friends in Paris told me he's already started spending time at the Dior archives...

Now regarding Kim Jones, I guess he could make sense at Burberry. Although I do wonder where the suits at Burberry stand with the idea of having another well-known creative director following the Daniel Lee debacle. I'm sure Kim would be fine just producing sub-tier outerwear, call his celeb friends for campaigns and call it a day but still... He's very expensive, therefore I wonder if that's what they have in mind. I know way less "important" creative directors have been approached, I wonder if the decision has been made...
He is expensive because he operates as a studio/company when hired meaning he has this company KIM JONES STUDIO LTD (74100 - Specialised design activities)
that does projects with a team at this KJ studio, that was part also the frustration i understood from Dior people that delphine could not stand him for doing other projects via the studio as well as him stepping out dressed in prada all the time after dior and fendi shows and ....as well as finding him let's say in simple terms basic !!!! she prefers more intelligent designers approach like Phoebe and JWA or NG ..

him stepping out dressed in prada all the time after dior and fendi shows
I've found that always odd....respect and protocol should not be ignored...even if he is free to dress like a monkey if he wants of course but show some respect for the house you are working for and french and italians pay attention at those things...

KJ is a notoriously poor dresser and his current figure isn’t helping. It’s like someone pulled a random chap out of a greasy spoon in Hackney or somewhere.

That’s why he would be perfect for Burberry, which mysteriously carries a lot of clout with the Chinese. Get him away from couture where he does a lot of damage and to a commercial house that sells logo-ed up outerwear, checked trainers, that sort of thing. Burberry is the chavs’ LV - both for tasteless people who think they’re ’into fashion’.

can't wait for that sinking plaid ship to fully sink with this guy. They are so lost with their identity, not knowing whether to go for upscale market or to mass market. Yet here they are wanting to hire someone whose work has 0 identity. And could make any couture pieces look like its from the thrift store.

I would love to know the amount of days he totally spent in Rome while working for Fendi these 3 years.
He was nowhere to be seen! Showing up once per season feels such a low move for a brand that is so heavily influenced by heritage and local culture.

It's so sad when you remember how great they once were under Christopher Bailey and Angela Ahrendts. Why meddle with a formula that was working?!
