Watch Live & Comment... The 2025 Golden Globe Awards!
varietyAfter playing the bastard Jon Snow on HBO's "Game of Thrones," Kit Harington looks ready to display his sword-wielding skills yet again, as Warner Bros. has tapped him for the role of King Arthur in "Arthur and Lancelot."
A schedule is still being worked out, but once that is resolved, Harington should be able to jump into the role and begin shooting in early 2012. Joel Kinniman is already in place to play Lancelot with David Dobkin on board to write and direct.
Plot details are vague, and though Dobkin is known more for his comedies like "The Wedding Crashers" and "The Change-Up," insiders this pic will be more in the vein of "Braveheart"-style action.
Dobkin will also produce with Charles Roven. A start date has been set for early 2012.
Warner Bros. and Dobkin have been hard at work searching for their two leads, holding chem tests for the last month to find their right duo.
Kinniman and Harington were said to be the early front-runners for both roles, and while Kinniman's test was good enough to get an early offer, Harington had to re-test for the role.
Harington eventually beat out the likes of Sam Claflin and his "Game of Thrones" co-star Richard Maddon. Harington is currently filmming the second season of "Game of Thrones."
