Knee/Thigh High Socks

I've been wanting a pair of over-the-knee socks lately - kind of the length the girl is wearing in coolheadk's post.. maybe a little longer too. I have 3 pairs of knee-high socks I got in Asia, but they hit slightly below my knee..

I see more and more people starting to wear them, but I think they are pulled off best with toned legs(too much flubber hanging out from the socks/stockings like love handles, no thank you) and high heels/flats, not like, trainers or something that seems to kind of 'cut off' the length of the legs. anyway I think this look can be really sexy yet stylish!

I love the celine ones on the first page, she had them wear them very well (example for how I could pull them off hahaha, I do have a sky blue trench coat that I could wear with maybe some gray ones, that would look gorge)

I love them under boots too, I just need some boots that would look good with them haha. They kinda remind me of leg warmers but less disgusting looking. Leg warmers are way too thick and these are kind of cleaner and cuter.

I love those American Apparel thigh highs, but how would you wear them out in public without looking like an AA-wh*re?

Buy the thigh high socks from AA without the stripes on them. They're almost unrecognizable as AA merch. ^_^

good call - while I pine for the prada variety I'm going to have to follow suite and go to AA to get, I think, the all black version. Hmmm....finally something I actually really want to go to AA for

I tried to look back through the thread to see if it's already benn mentioned but I am running out of time and I need to go to work. SO sorry if it's been suggested.

Anyway... has anyopne made those rippled thigh high socks themselves? I imagine it would be so so easy if you just cut any pair of tights at the top where the legs attach to the butt/crotch. Knitted tights wouldn't really run or roll too badly I don't think. And if they are too high you can always shorten them with the scissors. I think this has actually been done in some eds where they feature those rippled high socks. If you read the caption sometimes it says "tight cut into sacks by so-and-so".:flower:

these are my socks from topshop, um please ignore my posing lol!! and the rest of my outfit infact... but the length of socks is pretty good i'd say, no?

You look cute, Zara. I've tried wearing shorts and knee high socks, but I'm too shy to wear that out since it magnifies my fatty white thighs. haha

H&M surprisingly did a really good Prada knee high knock off - the ribbed grey ones.

I completely love them. I think they look great and are very comfortable. I especially love the ribbed ones, even though they're kind of trendy now, haha. & my mom is knitting me knee high red socks! LOL. They look cool though, I like them so far. :D

Zara they do look cute! definitely a good length, I only like them above the knee. Its a shame h&M only is online for sweden... has anyone tried the forever xxi - do they last or does, say the heel wear out fast?

They dont have socks at our H&M.
I just got a pair from forever 21... grey ribbed knee high. They come above the knee on me because Im only 5 foot. I havent wore them yet so I dont know how they will hold up. They are nice though... I just wish they were a little longer so I could slouch them more & have them still be above the knee.

I love knee high socks, actually all socks in general. I haven't seen many people wearing them around Sydney but ocasionally I give them a go. It's a little hard though because you can't really buy any good ones here and have instead been cutting off old ribbed tights that no longer fit however just the other day when a mystery pair of socks which turned out to be my dad's, found their way into my draw which I tried on with much delight as they were long and had delicious elastic at the top (the cut off tights don't stay up very well), I discovered men's socks as a wonderful option for long socks which are cheap and have a good range of colours. Once we get into more Autumn weather in Australia I'll be wearing without failure.

They did indeed. I got them in black. Though the quality is very bad, after wearing them once I found two holes. I stitched them and now they are actually fine...

wow, i have to check out H&M!
one of my friend got the prada pair last week in the bond street prada boutique, they cost 35. but when you can get them less than 5 quid in H&M, who bother getting the prada ones?
However, I do think the knee height socks are difficult to pull off. they don't look good with flats if you dont have long and slim legs, especially the grey ribbed ones, the colour sort of expand your legs

The pair by Celine are ensembled so well! I just love it. Hmmm....how could I pull that off?

h&m does NOT have rip-off prada stockings! i was JUST there! there is no h&m where i live. are they still in the store? i'll have to try and get someone i know to send me a pair.

can someone who has them post a pic?

Anthropologie.com also has a knockoff and they will ship to Canada, although in my experience it's really expensive! :(
