Lagerfeld: inventing his childhood?

I find it SO funny that Gabrielle Chanel totally lied about her origins and childhood and the -current- designer at the helm of this house is in the same exact situation! :p

Maybe senility is finally kicking in? Or maybe it's lies he's told so many times he now believes them?

Well we learn new things everyday, ^_^
I thought both of them to be short.

I really don't think it matters if Karl made up his history. I don't think it really matters what he was doing some 50 years ago. The fact of the matter is that he is wildly successful now.

And as for the picture, he actually looks like a stereotypical German, doesn't he? He may be significantly older, but I far prefer the look he has now.

It is not that it matters. Alot of people have respect for people who come from humble backgrounds and make something of themselves. Just by lying he makes himself look a bit of a .....

Well, I'm not saying it's ok to lie about your past but it is HIS past. I think he can disclose it however he likes. I totally understand his motive and if you can imagine the day and age in which he was making his start I'm not sure if I wouldn't have done the same. Personally I don't really care as his history wasn't something that influenced my opinion of him. I do know he showed immense talent at a young age when he won the international wool secretariat award, he didn't lie about that.

I don't think Karl needs to lie about his past, why would he do that?
he is accomplished, one of the most successful desginers of our times.
The only reason why I think he wouldnt sue the writer of that book, who is trying no more than creating controversy, is because he has no time for this folishness.
As I just said, he's been on top of the "heel":P for so many years that, does anyone think this could somehow hurt his reputation?
i dont think so...

Tons of famous people have an "inflated" resume ... i.e., totally lie about their pasts. Ivana Trump claimed to have been an Olympic athlete but wasn't ... it's almost like a badge of power that you claim this stuff that isn't true and if you're on top people "believe" you. I dunno, I don't get it either, but it's extremely common. I used to subscribe to Vanity Fair and they almost specialize in calling people on this stuff :D

Have no idea if Karl is lying or not, but must say I don't care enough about him to care if he's lying :p

i don't see why anyone would care what size house he grew up in ...

the interesting part would be the relationship btw himself and yves...

Now now Softgrey mind your language or we will have to wash your mouth out with soap ^_^
