noticed there wasn't a thread on Lalique and i've been recently quite piqed by this picture i've been seeing around -
rechercher.jpg

pic from http://www.cristallalique.fr/v1/index.htm.

i personally think they're a very safe choice and the colours are gorgeous.
what does everyone think?

i should think so. i suppose that's the down side of them, they can't tak ehard knocks.
however, the colours are just as vivid and beautiful as the picture when i saw them in person.

I have had mine for about 5 years now and it still looks brand new. I've knocked it tons of times and always cringe when I do, but then I look down at it and not a scratch! So, they do hold up well and still stand as an icon of art deco jewelry design.

my mom has one of the ugly heart ones. i bought it for her cause she obsessed over them. but eek.

those rings look delish though

Ah Lalique. I can't give an exact quote on prices, but yes they are really beautiful. A lot of art nouveau themes, nymphs and stars in pastel and moonstone glass. Wait for the soldes though! I think it was at...Bon Marche? that I saw some things marked down to onle 35 euros!! I think maybe 70-100+ euros is prob more like it, prob 200 for bigger pieces.

Another big one is Baccarat, is there a thread for that as well?

If the price or weight of glass is too much, plastics and bakelite are fascinating alternatives - and a fraction of the cost of glass. Ahh, Lalique... I only have objets d'arts, no jewelry. Very tempting thought... I will have to give into it completely!

^ give in! they really hold up well, and i get so many compliments on mine. i'm in love the parisian 30s and these rings so represent that.
