Peep Toe Tights

yeah the girl in the sart. pic i'm pretty sure is just pulling leggings over her heel. That is the only way I will wear leggings in public really. Susie bubble started doing it ages ago and to be honest, thats where I got the inspiration from. If you get ankle length leggings it's not that hard to do, especially if you're short. My leggings actually bunch at the ankle so it's easy to pull them over my heel and wear them that way.

exactly i took inspiration from Susie too. Actually it's the only way i've been wearing my leggings lately because it's different from what you see everyday and i do use cotton leggings

this originated with DANCERS...

i have had a pair from capezio for a really long time...
(like more than 5 years)
they call them 'convertible leggings...'
they do have a hole...
i have legwarmers like this as well...also from a dance shop...
we all wore our legwarmers pulled down like this in the 80's...
but they never had the hole- which is a def improvement
and the tights as well...

i think that the cut out toe and heel make it easier for your foot to grip the shoes you are wearing..that is what they are there for..
i would think that tights and ballet flats are actually quite slippery otherwise...
as least they have been in my experience...

the prada open toed socks seems to be responsible for this current explosion of them...^_^...

***thanks for starting the thread chrissy......

I know that dancers have tights without toes, but they usually are in black, nude and sometimes white and pink, which is why I thought most girls were just pulling down their leggings.

I think though I have an old pair of black left over from my dancing days......it pays to be a pack rat sometimes

good point about the open heel making it easier to grip shoes..

i feel like i want to invest in a pair with the heel cut out just so i can wear a certain pair of pumps that i have (they are a full size too big)..
though i can make the pumps work they are almost impossible to wear with tights because of the foot slippage issue..

i would love to see more pics of this look if anyone wants to share :shifty:

(tightsplease.com) On tightsplease.com they are called ski pants. And they're only 5.99 pounds. Bargain.

I wonder if people are just using footless tights and pulling them over the foot......

that's what i do. it started in winter when it was super chilly and my ankles were cold. :innocent: i pulled them down to keep my feet warmer and ended up loving how it looked. my legs are short, so i always have extra length to work with, and it's definitely more flattering for my legs!

thanks for the link meg :flower:

susie definitely is an innovative dresser and knows how to make this look work...

i have shorter legs and a long torso so i think this look would definitely be more flattering with heels etc than just having the leggings cut off at the ankles as usual..

i think i almost did this with cotton leggings but the sort of gapping thing i mentioned happened and i was also worried about sliding out of my heels..

That's how I do it, just pull footless tights down past my ankles! Definitely elongates the leg

chrissy I've never had a problem with my feet sliding out of my shoes while doing this. Sometimes it makes them a wee bit tighter even because you have that extra bit of fabric wedged in there.

Thanks for starting the thread Chrissy :flower:

I have to confess, the tights that I was wearing are stirrup tights from AA and I was definitely aiming for a "prada-esque" look there.
I find this look fresher than and it's a nice middle ground between footless tights and leggings, plus I personally find it flattering as it seems to elongate the legs.
I tried pulling the tights down before for this open-toe look but the tights don't seem to hold.
Maybe it's easier to do that with a pair of tights one size larger...in the end I went with the stirrups as those seem the most secure.
I'm obsessed and have got the stirrup leggings in black, red, pewter and blue as well, but I only wear them with closed heel shoes to disguise the opening at the heel.

I especially love how these type of tights were used in the Marni F/W07 collection :

And of course some looks from Prada F/W07 as well, but note that these are open-toe socks.

I love this look. Lately I've gone out of my way to wear dresses and skirts just to have an outfit to pair these tights with. I find them to be incredibly flattering and elongating. Surprisingly, I've yet to find them in any colors besides black and dark maroon. I guess I just have to keep searching.

yay for runway pics

thanks for explaining princess...

i think a lot of the questions i have are definitely being answered in here which is great :D

maybe i'll go looking for a pair from AA... one of the more muted colors though..
i think i've gotten enough brights of regular tights to last me through the rest of my youth :P

princessimp. Oh thanks for the runway pics. :flower:
I didn't even remember that Marni did that as well..

I'm off to AA to look for some in muted, dark colors. ^_^

You are welcome guys :flower:
I usually like to pair my tights (any type of tights really) with heels so that it adds to the "elongating" effect.
I have tried it with flats before, but I much prefer heels, maybe because I am only 5'3" and need some help in that department.

Looking at the Marni pics, I'm definitely inspired again.
I have not tried wearing shorts with leggings before but I like how it's done in Marni, that's something to experiment with!

i think when you just pull down regular footless tights, they get so stretched that they lose some of their opacity and i am not a fan of the result frankly...

:ninja:...

^ Agreed. I tried that initially and after only a few hours of walking around I noticed that the ankles were beginning to wear. Not to mention, I kept having to pull them down..

I guess it depends what kinds of tights/leggins you have. I have the AA winter leggings which aren't even a tight with a denier....they are literally cotton pants so....you don't have an opacity issue.....the only issue I have with doing this is that they (the leggings) tend to fall down at the waist so I have to pull them up every so often. Other than that...
