Lanvin Men's F/W 2020.21 Paris

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

thank god we have Acne today.

Some good pieces here and there, but overall it feels quite unremarkable. I don't know who would shop here instead of Loewe, Marni, Bode etc.

It’s not bad , just more of the stuff we can buy at other brands. Those Alber Dresses feel like he was told to be more feminine , they don’t seem natural in the overall context. He’s not a bad designer , it feels more like a very complicated situation .

Those sneakers deserve a special seat in hell. All these looks are irrelevant. A pile of clothes.

this collection is like an in house design team gone nuts with a post it workshop. Completely out of touch and directionless. Lanvin bosses should be ashamed to what they have done to this house.

I don’t know if having influencers part of the cast is going to help the brand but at least, with Loewe being so feminine this season, this looks more « individual » I guess.
One thing is that he has a particular cut for jacket and a very distinct color palette. That blue is quite striking...
Those clothes are fine as usual. I just don’t think the price point is justified...It’s not even aspirational.

As for the womenswear..It’s fine, it’s feminine. The balloon dresses were hard to get at that time and they are still hard to find so I guess I can buy these one instead lol.

And for a house that was among the pioneers in designers sneakers, those shoes are an insult.

The audacity to even think of touching those SS '08 Elbaz dresses.
At least, he went to the archives... It « looks Lanvin ».
Now I wonder if his fall collection is just going to be a long raid into Alber’s archives...

The question is: why twisting the image of Lanvin to make it appealing towards a type of customer this label has never been intended for?
I guess today's mantra is "Chase the millennial", at what price though? Destroying in a couple of seasons the reputation that people like Elbaz have taken years to build?

Why does everything this entire men’s season look so freakin’ gay AND juvenile???

It’s getting creepy.

And before you all try to kill me, I’m gay, myself....
This whole fey sexless thing has captured men’s fashion week and will not let go.. I don’t want bronzed gigilos, but I want adult clothes for adults, not little boy-dolls. Ugh. I’ll just sit in the corner until everyone gets tired of it.

The clothes are decent but the shoes are not needed, considering this brand was about to die this is actually pretty decent. It is much better than Off White/Abloh's LV

Idk...I guess it’s that it seems like so many “creative directors” at these big brands now seem to be this particular breed...a 30-something-year-old, unexceptionally tasteful, conventional, marginally attractive, curated Instagram kind of gay male...they’re good at playing the corporate game and pleasing the suits because they’ll never take a creative risk because they like their big fat salaries so they can afford their Instagramable summers spent on a yacht.

This guy at Lanvin, the Mugler guy, the Bottega guy, the Schiaparelli guy, the Paco Rabanne guy, the guy at Ferragamo and to a similar extent even, Jacquemus and JW...I know I’m missing a few others...but I think it explains why everything kind of looks the same.

The most telling part is the fact that none of these guys would be caught dead in their runway creations. Do they really expect people to drop thousands just to look like prepubescent twinky fantasies?

There's no identity. Why would anyone go to Lanvin for this?
