Lanvin S/S 11 Paris

After so many seasons, am I the only one who thinks:
Lanvin always plays darkness for its fall collection and splash colors for its spring pieces??

Fabulous! I am in love with the dresses and almost all the pieces. The colors are magnificent (a bit dark for spring though), the pieces are breath-taking. A wonderful collection IMO

It looks so cheap I think this could easily be his H&M collection. And the raw details only make everything look even cheaper. There are some interesting pieces but overall it's a terrible collection.

As promised here my two videos from backstage at Lanvin

the first one :

the second one (the new one) :

I keep coming back to the thread to look at the collection because I really want to like this collection, but it's just not doing it for me. -_-

Why were there a group of black girls at the end? I didn't understand that. They were gorgeous but seemed a bit random. Anyone care to explain?

Yeah I thought that was bizarre and they got the ugly outfits too??

^Apparantly it was a very emotional moment for a lot of people that were present there (including those models)...Tim Blanks commented it resonated old YSL finales.

It may not be Albert best collection, but its for sure one of the best this season.
What's really amazing, and also the most surprising for a lot of people, is the fact that Albert completely changed his directions. We were used to see an over sexy , strong almost dominatrix woman at Lanvin. With tons of heavy and exhuberant accessories and flashy colors. Yet this time, everything was toned down. There weren't explosions of bright oranges and pinks, no more crazy bracelets and thousands of necklaces around their neck or killer heels.
Therefore at first sight this woman seems a bit bland and less impressive than the S/S10 one. Because its a more loose and comfy aesthetic. This woman doesn't seem to want to make a statement, she prefers pieces in which she'll be able to live and work. Still, if you look closely, this collection is quite major. Indeed there's an undeniable discret refinement here.
All the long skirts at the begining worn with super tight tops, emphasize the ease and movement of the silhouette. Its the same for the bi-material dresses. He also worked a lot on volumes and proportions, throught the woman suits, the caged tops or the three trench tops. And then for the evening he gives a embrodery mania on short coktail dresses or on tops with mini skirt. But the best here, as usual for Lanvin, its the little details that makes a huge difference. First those jeweled collar that add a little touch of glamour and magic to the looks. ( The jeweled bow is the best accessory of the season, for me ). Of course the shoes, that were stellar as well. The bracelets which strangely gave me a glove-impression as they were worn in mid arm. The exquisit tailoring. And finally the plissé which gives me a fantastic origami impression.
So for me, once again Albert and his team delivered.
And as for the black models, I found it extremly beautiful. Their jumpsuit weren't bad at all, but really gorgeous. And the fact that they closed the show as a group was clearly a message because instead of being a separating move, i think it was a way to introduce them as the " bouquet finale" of the show. To put them, for once, in the spotlight.
they appeared as the 'bouquet final" of the show.

Hum .. too me some of the dresses seems a wee bit too sl*tty to be Lanvin .. so I do get the scattered part of Alber .. if I recall correctly he's a very sensitive man so if he got stressed out we certainly wont be getting Elbaz at its best (which seems to have happened imho).

The finale is the most important part of the show .. I love the black girls bouquet tho I dont quite get it .. we need more info and reviews on that.

i simply cannot laud this collection enough. seriously, with collections like these, i am sure they will need riot police outside of h+m stores come november.

I really like this collection from Lanvin. The excessive embellishments and excessive draping of the last two years started to feel a bit tired, as beautiful as it was. So I'm very glad to see that, while those elements are certainly both still here, he's infused it with something a bit more tailored, clean, minimal, even techno (a la Spring/Summer 2007). It's so refreshing to see him focus on something less flou.

And the flats look so smart.

OMG! The collection is pure perfection! Alber Elbaz is genius! My fave collection in PFW so far!

The more I look at this collection, the more attracted to it I am. I remember Alber speaking of purifying the lines last season and it looks like pushed even more forward to this direction, so clean, simple and wonderfully refreshing for the whole season. I especially love those flowy parachute-like fabrics, Alber does them like no one else.

The music sounds fabulous, too. That fast beat at the beginning worked fabulous with the three dresses on Frida, Monika and Olga.

i have to say, after digesting the collection and watching part of the show in motion, this is still lanvin and still fabulous. the music as always makes the clothes look great and you really get into the emotions of the clothes.
though...it is still not alber's best

that was my same feeling.
still beautiful but not his best.at least he's not jumped on the Celine-minimalistic trend like everybody else...:innocent:

this collection is pure perfection. pure perfection.
it is scattered, but i think that refers only to the fabrics used, the idea behind all three (somehow, in my head, it had 3 stories) is the same and it's pure Lanvin.
again - perfection.

watching the video on vogue.com (US) made me love it, it's actually really sexy - all the glimmers of leg and the sheer fabrics and the way the fabrics move over the body. Also, I love the colours - jewel tones + muted brights; so Lanvin.

i also love how he revisits themes (exposed zipped dresses, draped sleeves and swags, jewel-encrusted futuristic pieces) and takes it a little further. i love designers that patiently explore ideas. i am killing for the zippered, scuba-ish dress with the flared skirt worn with flat sandals - a bit futuristic, a bit ballerina, but also very wearable.
