Lara Stone

:buzz::wub:my girl won, amazing news guys, she looks gorgeous at the event,
looking forward to new editorials and covers for january.

Jeez, Lara's win really shows how ill informed journo's are these days. Model of the year is obviously the biggest award. But they keep harping on about how real Brit Phoebe Philo won and put Lara way down below because "she's not British". Non of them seem to know Lara's father is British, weird ...

francisco costa really knows how to make the most sophisticated simple white dresses. and who better to wear them...

No she is not. She is half Dutch, half English and she is even born in Germany but grow up in the Netherlands.

It's a mistake, it happened before I believe.

Yeah, I've been telling loads of people that she's half British. Everyone's going on about: how can she win a British fashion award, she's Dutch, etc.
Kinda racist in a way. Isn't it her second win?

Also interesting that she's not the headline in the UK non fashion press but the people that lost (whom are British) are instead. Like they don't want her to be a star, because she's Dutch ...

I think a lot of people don't know that she is half British, everytime I read something about her she is being refered to as 'the Dutch model' so it's not surprising most people think she is just Dutch.
Very happy for her that she won the award, she also looked stunning at the event. The Sun also wrote a tiny bit about her winning.

Lara looked amazing, i love watching her when she's dressed i'm a bit tired of her nude photos

Yeah, but only after harping on about the people that didn't win ... I thought you'd start of talking about the winners :-)

I meant racist in the way: why can't you win a British fashion award when it isn't your nationality? (Like if Lara really was fully Dutch).

Non Americans win American Music Awards, non Dutch can win Dutch Fashion Awards etc.

It's just odd really, seems a bit too chauvinistic :p

I understand what you mean, but the British Fashion Awards 'recognise the most influential people in fashion today and celebrate the reputation and development of British fashion' -> that's why I quote from the website.

So it's an award show to celebrate British talent, just like the Brit Awards although they have some international categories aswell. But that's the reason why only British or half British people can get a nominee of win an award.

And you're right about The Sun, they began talking about Victoria Beckham but then again Victoria is a much bigger star and more well known than Lara. So I can understand why they did that.

^ It's an interesting article. Maybe in the earlier time, when people talked about Lara, they would mentioned Brigitte Bardot (anyway I love her, too.). But I always think that Lara's look is unique, and she has the personality. But, as what you said——"the terrible rise of Lara Stone lookalikes", in my opinion, not everyone can deals "blonde hair, pale eyebrows, big lips, big boobs, and, if possible, a gap-toothed smile (quoted from the article)" well……
