Leggings

This is a Jennie Ahn piece, the winner for the Women's Wear Daily highlighted series I am a judge for; she won the October 2, 2006 Weekly series competition!

In an ironic twist, I was once a customer of her designs, we discovered each other through a social fashion community, became friends and then learned each other's back story after many months of endearing conversations, something of a love story among friends...

I'm under strict order to not share who she designs for today or broadcast any of the concepts since they are corporate confidential, though you'd probably recognize the designs in my email file this coming October if you're anywhere a major American shopping mall, among other venues...

This was posted in a somewhat private and public community with members in the hundreds and I'm certain it's appreciated here as an illustration of leggings incorporated into contemporary design!

Plus she won the WWD highlighted series too! She's a true doll, a spiritual person and a very good friend who I respect, admire and have lots of fun with!

Here's a miniature PDF copy of our article published in WWD earlier this autumn!

It features the spin-off design series she participated in with the illustration and concept from above, which won with honors as well! I'd love to have her enter once more, though she's booked solid with freelance for the season since it's offset by 12 months and we are in the rush of holiday as we speak...

Though being friends with such a sweetheart and doll has it's benefits since she's offered to create concept and sketch for more than a freindly rate with myself and very close friends I've known for years, though some major outlets have been knocking on her door...

You'll notice it's a half page on top, while Oscar de la Renta had the courtesy of a third!
Nice...! Thanks Mengly!

There's the backstory on one designer and friend who's incorporating leggings into the industry today!!! Technology is pretty neat! The world of fashion has shrunk so fast! Who needs an NYC loft with Northwest Airline tickets nowadays anyway!

My private loft is in Detroit of all places fashion, and some friends have wondered whether or not they should have packed it in for Brooklyn to particiapte in the design field, though to hold it to leggings, there it is!

Just a note, I was at Best Buy in Downey, CA. I was on the way out and I just was looking for my car and noticed a guy wearing leggings with long basketball shirts and a jersey and sandals. Seemed ok. I have been using them with shorts exercising and walking at night.

Leggings = classy? I don't think so. Especially not if the wearer of leggings are wearing a skirt or jumper with the leggings. I still would prefer the "pedal pusher" capris since most are into the leggings just past the knees. An old friend of mine had on some leggings as pants and not trying to look overdressed. She was just fine.

And disco54... you want to be buddies? I accept!

yeah...leggings esp ankle length......omg...go to your local old folks center and you will see leggings better yet go to a trailer park....leggings have always been the rage there...it cost 5 bucks , lol...

that design of that girl.....she looks like a hooker...garter belts omg jesus

I agree with the argument that leggings ruin any skirt or dress,
but how do you think it looks being worn as pants, paired with a normal length shirt?

I actually like them as pants with a slightly longer shirt & boots (I know most people hate this look). As far as leggings & skirts go.
They are kind of cute with loose fitting mini dresses though.

I was just watching the Style Network on a rerun of "Split Ends." The episode was about a hip Brooklyn beautician girl switching roles with a beautician of Rancho Cucamonga, California. The Brooklyn girl went to California while the California girl went to Brooklyn. The hip Brooklyn girl had no problem in terms of how to look good. She was a blonde that dressed up the beauty shop in a beach setting in admitting that Brooklyn can be pretty dull. She had a bikini top with a pleated mini skirt and some platform (I think) flip-flops.

But now to the lady I had a problem with in fashion. The Rancho Cucamonga girl that went to Brooklyn dressed pretty bad in relation to this topic. Girl had on this okay silver-colored top with white accents. Below the belt was atrocious to me. You know how much I hated this one girl that wore leggings under SHORTS and worn Converse-like sneakers? The only thing this lady I'm about to talk about had better shoes to wear. This girl on "Split Ends" worn black leggings with these short denim shorts. They were paired up with these red, chunky, peep-toe pumps.

It was a terrible look and HAD to come on thefashionspot.com's forums to report yet another case of leggings destroying an otherwise okay look. The madness seems to be subsiding finally while people finally realize that '80s are terrible on the fashion front and even as a whole. Had to report this fashion crime.

i only wear my leggings in the house..with my ugg boots..yes read:in my house since im always cold. Never been seen in public with either. its such an overkill.

Marni Legwear for men

Anyone see the yahoo!.com article regarding http://men.style.com for mens leggings? Anyone know where they may be for sale and when? Supposed to be for fall this year 2007.

I actually tried to wear some red print-leggings with ankleboots, legwarmers, some thin, 60's bangles, an very oversized, black/white-striped longsleeve and some long pearlnecklaces. Very 60's / twiggy / Dior A/W 05/06 (you know, the white/black striped mohair-sweaterdresses?). I'm not sure if i pulled it off.. Might wear it sometime. I'm anyway kinda over leggings, at least on females. Unless you team it with a simple, oversized tee, a long necklace and some pumps and wear the leggings instead of skinny trousers.

I like that look too. I thought i was the only one lol. I hate them with skirts also they look so tacky and just WRONG. I like them worn with dresses though.

I wear my leggins with my uggs as well, usually just to run out somewhere really quick- i never actually choose it to be my outfit for the whole day, just in the morning. quick and easy. plus it looks cute with an little bit of a bigger band-t or something. leggings really depend on how you wear them

I guess I am the only person in the entire universe who hates leggings. I hated leggings when they were in during the 80's and I hate them now. I guess I just like to show off a great set of legs.

If you are going to wear a miniskirt, then show off your legs ladies. Don't hide them behind leggings. If you are going to complain about how cold it is outside and need leggings to warm your legs, don't wear skirts in the dead of winter!!

I especially hate how right now, the new trend is BRIGHT leggings. I'm talking about lime green, bright yellow, hot pink, eletrick blue and so forth.

You are not alone. I HATE:sick: leggings too.
