Leggings

leggings can be chic when executed right but most of the time (80% ) , i have seen girls end up looking like jerry springer guests, people who have been leggings before they became popular lol

still don't own a pair... hmm..not sure how i'd wear them either.

i have loved leggings since i was in 3rd grade. there was this awesome girl named claire, and she was the kind of girl that was just sickeningly perfect but you liked her anyway- she had golden blonde hair, big blue eyes, perfect rosy skin, an athletic body, she was nice, she was smart, she was funny... yada yada yada. and she showed up every few days in the coolest leggings from talbots kids! red leggings, green, blue, black, brown...i wanted legging so badly. and so i got some. and ever since then, i have amassed a hugeeee collection of leggings and tights, both funky and plain.

of course, when they became trendy (along with indian slippers) two or three years ago, i was very put out, i wanted to be "original.' But I got over it and still wear my leggings with happiness because they make me happy.

the only requirement, so to speak, i think to wear them is nicely-shaped legs. wearing leggings, whether under a skirt/dress or by themselves, requires slim, shapely legs! sort of like fat girls wearing skinny jeans, or tummy baring tops - it is disgusting to see a girl (i know not her fault) with chunky, ugly legs wearing leggings. it is gross. but that is just my opinion.

I love leggings, espically under dresses (as long as the dress isn't too long)

Yeah - I think mid thigh is about the right length.

I prefer it when the legging ends above the ankle, not on it as I've seen on some. I'm short so have to keep tweaking my leggings which can be a pain considering the material is stretchy and can make sewing a little difficult to do perfectly.

I'm actually swinging towards liking the metallic now, but haven't actually worn any yet. I've got a beautiful greyish batwing sweater and a shortish gray fitted skirt so I'm going wild this weekend and invest in a silver pair. Have to buy shoes to go as well - oh what a chore :D

thank god for leggings i can wear skirts again .. with my monster thighs i couldnt wear a dress or shirt with out them

I find them so versatile and have several pairs in different colours, textures and styles. I wear them under jeans, either for warmth or to show through my ripped ones and much prefer them to tights under short skirts. I think they look equally good under longer skirts.

thse things are here to stay for a while, they seem very strong to this day on recent collections, once they've been brought back in style, they're gonna be hard to be taken away.

I mean, there's nothing more comfortable than running around in leggins and effortlessly achieve an updated look with some dress you have in your wardrobe.

OK, question. For shorter people (I'm 5'3") where should the leggings end? I feel that if I wear them long (as in just above the ankle) with a minidress or tunic, I look really stumpy. I cant decide how to wear it just yet.

Although I think if you had them cut off at calf length if would chop of the proportion even more. I say extra long. Almost as if you just cut off the end of the foot of a pair of tights reaching around the ankle bone. JMO

^Oooh, interesting. Good idea... I feel more comfortable with that too, since that length is more "tights"-ish. Thanks, Sarah!

I found this picture that depicts what I am talking about. This is my favorite way to wear the style.

Today I went out to buy groceries with hobo beige shorts from Gap, A long sleeve tshirt with print, black tights with camo leggings over it and converse brown hightops. No one said anything. Will try different combo. Also, anyone know how to upload pictures?

The only thing i like about leggings is that they're cheap and I can dance in them. I really don't think they look good on 90% of the people that wear them. I have a few pair but mainly for around the house. Not everyone can get away with certain trends.

Try Target, they have thick leggings, however you may still need to wear a skirt or shorts with them. There are also footless tights there. Walmart had thick footless tights that were like leggings. Walmart also had leggings in the women casual area. They may still carry them. If not try New York & Co. or some other trendy clothing stores.

For those looking for leggings or footless tights: target and Walmart should still have them. American Eagle Outfitter has tights and leggings, and also American Apparel. Type this in and do a search.

Where to find leggings

You could try also at local women botiques. Online: Stockinggirl.com or stockingirl.com ( whichever style) and sockdreams.com
