Levi's

I used to wear Levi's too, mostly 501 but now I prefer "old and dated" Diesel's models since they have nicer fabrics. I use mine now for some "recutting" and have found out that my 501/505 have slightly "twisted" one leg. Am I nonsymetrical, or it's the jeans:-)) ?

i got a pair in 520 too superlow in juniors and they were wayyyyyyyyyy too short and then got a pair of type i slim fit ones with the zippers down the sides and they were a lil too long and its uncomfortable to sit down cuz it slides down too much and looks wierd with a belt. not a big fun

Wal-mart carries Levi Strauss... O.O

Levi Strauss developed a line especially for Wal-Mart. Read this.

In SF you see a lot of old 80's metal guys with the black levis and white leather sneakers, and hair as big as they are still able to grow it... that's what I think of.

Oy!

I haven't worn Levis in about 8 years, but now that higher rise jeans and pants are coming back in style, I think Levis will be huge again. I tried on a pair the other day that was really flattering- I don't know the style number, but I think I'm going to go back and get them.

Lavis are good, but a bit retro style. One thing is that Levis is the only make where I can get trousers in my length. (Im quite small actually  )

The LVC and Type 1 / Levi's engineered jeans are IMO well-made with great designs (although LVC sometimes screws up on the little details).

Heck I wear my LVC almost every other day

yeah that's a nice one! :)
i've got the 1966 (i believe) lvc blueblood ( with wax treatment) Love it!

Levi's is a classic, but I'm not so much a fan of today's current models...LVC is excellent and the Levi's produced for the Japanese market are usually top notch. I also like the limited edition fenom (is that the name for the ones with that circle w/ lightning bolts inside?) line by Hiroshi Fujiwara, but they're too pricey and I don't think they come in my inseam size (apparently they're only 30 inseam?).

1947 501xx raw.... the quintessial jeans

how would you say these compare to APC New Standard raw jeans in terms of fit, quality, and result of wear?

Levis can be your friends or your worst enemy.
For example i bought some jeans this spring, well after 5 wears they ripped from the butt pocket! and they were not even that tight on me!
But right now I have bought some Skinny jeans for girls and they are very nice and just comfortable. The bad thing they stretch to much and their denim is to cheap.

 Levi's always struck me as the most reliable in terms of durability...my sole pair of 501's (not LVC) are basically my denim equivalent of shitkicker boots, right next to my 45 RPM's! What country are you in right now, that might determine the quality of Levi's being produced perhaps?

There's a crapload (I'm talkin shelf after shelf) of vintage Levi's at NYC vintage store What Comes Around Goes Around...none of the models are that striking however, most of them seem to be U.S. versions from maybe 80's and 90's, and those that are better (selvedge, etc.) seem to cost a fortune. Do Levi's from that era hold up better or something?

I have a ton of jeans and only one pair of 6 year old lowrise Levis...and they are always the ones I reach for when I have to get dressed quickly. I like Levis quality but aside from the pair that I have, I don't seem to have a lot of luck with other styles of Levis fitting me. I'm 5' and about a size 4.

I concur. I was about to buy a pair of junior skinnies and even though the fit was good, I could definitely tell that the denim wasn't going to last long.
I don't own a pair of Levi's because they never seem to have the style that suits my taste... I see a lot of magazine ads that advertise a fit/style that I might like but they never seem to appear in stores.
And what is the quality I hear?
I want to like Levi's but I'm really picky when it comes to fit and style when it comes to jeans...
