Lil' Kim Asked for Free Designer Clothes to Wear in Court
Raunchy rapper Lil' Kim, who was convicted of perjury and conspiracy last week, was reportedly hastily trying to get free designer clothes to wear in court.
"Lil' Kim's people were phoning around, trying to get designers to dress her for free during the trial," an informer was quoted by
ObviousNews.com as saying.
Marc Jacobs, Tufi Duek and
Moschino agreed to provide outfits, while
Bill Blass was said to turn down the scandalous star. "Blass is what the girls want when they're trying to clean up their image," said the source. "Paris Hilton wore it to Vanity Fair's Oscars party, and Janet Jackson was in the front row of the last show. But they didn't want to dress Kim - that'd be too much."
The 29-year-old, known for her lewd outfits and the sexually explicit language of her music, appeared in buttoned-up shirts, knee-length skirts and proper suits during her two-week trial in Federal District Court in Manhattan, trying to mislead the jury and make an impression that in real life she is a far cry from the trash-talking rap diva.
"It's all just entertainment," she said of her music and stage image.
"Her look was still very Kim, very stylish, with a little bit of glamour and a lot of class," said the star's rep.
