I absolutely love Elle Fanning and am always happy to see her score a cover, but I don’t really like this. It’s not terrible, but the makeup is a bit off - too severe for her face? I’m not sure it it looks SO wonky especially in the shot with the long Coach coat.

Agree, the styling/makeup is so weird: The hair also looks like when you untie your ponytail at the end of the day. Photoshop is odd as well?

I keep coming back here because I'm not comfortable dismissing this cover and editorial. This photo shoot doesn't seem like the kind of thing you can just wave away. There is something to it. A broken language, a hidden quality. While it doesn't work as a whole, the parts are solid. The editorial lacks structure, but there are some interesting portraits in it. Elle seems to struggle through it: it must have been a challenging experience for her, a learning process. Positive, is what I mean. I find much of this work memorable.

The aesthetic of the photographer is too harsh for a celebrity it would require a very talented model to bring this editorial to life.
