London College of Fashion

@diorlover

from marylbone station you can either take the bakerloo line to baker street then get the hammersmith and city line all the way to sheperds bush, or you could take the bakerloo line to oxford circus get the central line to Holland park and take the bus to goldhawk station.

I find the hammersmith and city line really slow though, and there's always something wrong.

Thank you Sidewalk Bob.

But now i;m having second thoughts about my course, i'eve just realised I had the right grades for Foundation buying and merchandising, but now its too late to apply for that. Does anyone do fashion buying, if so how hard was it to get into that course?

i just got accepted in Fashion Journalism. i was just wondering what the reputation of the school is for that, cos i heard it's one of the best in the area (if not the only one that has fashion journalism?)

PG or MA? The lecturer for the PG is untrustworthy and the lecturer for the MA is absolutely terrible. PM and I will tell you anything you want to ask.

Do NOT be nervous about the math's test. Honestly, it's something a 2nd grader could do. I did it and out of 12 questions or what have you there, there were only 2 that I was a bit unsure of. I'm pretty sure I got a 90%+ on it. The people were like wow! I'm so surprised! I don't know that I could do that well! I was really? you're willing to admit that? Some of the first questions are like 2 + 2 = ?? And I'm not a maths person by any means. Anyway, rant over. The tests are easy and the interview was like 5 minutes, the guy just asked about my interests in the program, where else I had applied, why it interested me and pretty much confirmed I got a place on the spot. This was for the BA Fashion Management program. It was lovely though. If I had more financial funding I might have stayed on to do it.

Thank you for your info.:lol: It's really useful.
But I have a question. What did they test in written test for Fashion Promotion? Maths or anything else?:unsure:Does anyone know?

my friend did the Fashion Promotion interview and she said it was two questions (i think) but nothing too hard. i remember her saying that one of them was "what would you do to clean up britney spears' image?" and they basically told them to have fun with the test

It's good to know the maths test is easy!! I'm applying for BA Fashion Management next year. :)

:woot::woot:Thank you ,Katie. :heart::heart:
The question about Britney sounds really interesting~HAHA~

I agree - I'd love that question on Britney Spears! I always think I could sort her out......haha.

has anyone been to the course information days? are they helpful? i'm thinking of going since i'm still deciding whether i should go to LCF in september or not.

InnocentFairy - just wondering, what have you heard about the short courses? do you think they're worth the money? also, do you think the masters in the history and culture of fashion and the fashion and film one would be just as disappointing as you say the one you're doing is? cheers in advance!!

.. and, yes, I love Britney too!! There was a time when my only dream for when I grew up was to track her down and marry her! It wouldn't even be that hard to achieve now either! :woot:

It depends on what short courses you are looking at. If you are thinking of doing a PG, then I think these are worth the money (more so than the MA courses). Whereas the short courses that do not come with any qualification are courses I like to call 'tourist courses' and are not worth your money, unless you want to learn a skill (for example sewing, pattern cutting, etc - although I have learnt to do this myself and therefore it is debatable whether to do such 'tourist' courses).

I think the MA courses in general are all left up to the students to carry out their own work, therefore I do not think £3300 (or thereabouts) is worth it when you are basically teaching yourself. But then again, not all the MA courses were as bad as mine. For example, individuals I know doing their MA Fashion Photography had great lectures and lecturers and were really guided where as others were left to their own devices. But as for the particular topics you have mentioned above, I can't really comment on how well they are.

It might be best to search MySpace or FaceBook (or even on here) and speak to others who are on those particular courses, or have taken them. :flower:

Yes I love Britney!

InnocentFairy, could you tell me what students at LCF are like, the overall environment of the school?

I actually liked the enviroment, it does have a buzz. You can really see the excitement on the student faces and I did not find them to be pretentious like individuals might think. It is the overall campuses that are not great...there is no great student union bar with great student nights, so that is a let down. Plus the I found the libary to be small and computer rooms hot and outdated.

I found the canteen on John Princes Street to be awful, I would describe it as expensive, smelly and overcrowded. The Student Union so-called bar (and the overall campus) is much nicer on Davies Street than the run-down one on John Princes Street. But I wouldn't expect anything too 'spectacular' from either campus, but the overall enviroment was exciting.
