London Fashion Week S/S 08 - Schedule

OMG
i feel so sorry for Kane but even moreso for all those who were looking forward to his show!
i am really keeping fingers crossed he will get the collection back together on time.

Oh come on, does anyone actually believe this??....heard it all before....

unfortunately I don't think people will see much of Kane of this season, there are some news at Vogue.co.uk saying that 23 of his new dresses has been burgled..

how convenient!:innocent:...

CHRISTOPHER KANE BURGLED

CHRISTOPHER KANE revealed this morning that his East End studio was broken into on Saturday night and 23 of his collection pieces - due to be unveiled on the catwalk for the first time this time next week – were stolen along with a company laptop. The designer and his sister (and business partner), Tammy stopped in at the studio to pick something up on their way to the Scottish Fashion Awards this weekend (at which Kane was named Designer of the Year). Noticing that the lights were on, they entered the studio to find that thieves had somehow known both combination and security codes to the two doors. They called the Crime Squad immediately but no fingerprints have been found. "Naturally I am devastated that this has happened," says Kane. "We are all shaken by the break in and the fact that someone has invaded my private work space and taken precious show pieces so close to fashion week, although I do realise it could have been a lot worse." Despite this major set back, Kane and his team are hoping to have the collection back together in time for the show which is scheduled for 2.30pm on Monday September 17. Kane has also publicly asked anybody who might know anything about the robbery to come forward. (September 10 2007, PM)

I don't honestly think that Kane would solicit a publicity stunt like that, I mean he's everybody's favourite ingenue at the moment...I don't think he'd need the whoop-la this could create.

Then again, perhaps I'm simply naive.

So they didn't contact vogue.com straight afterwards?.....funny......:innocent:
if it was my collection, I would keep it quiet, what does he gain from going public with it apart from sympathy for what could be a bad collection.

I don't believe it was a publicity stunt at all. There seems to be an epidemic of fashion theft going on these days and the thieves know exactly what they are looking for - taking the most valuable pieces of a collection. First, I heard of a ram raid of a shop in Australia and I read about other occurences in India. Now London. This is frightening for all artists, I think.

I highly doubt that it would be a publicity stunt, to have 23 dresses and the laptop stolen a week before the show? That's just sad. Fashion is definitely becoming a more dangerous place with all the ram-raids and what not.

Pointless Stolen Goods
by Stylebubble

A baffling piece of news has been announced. Christopher Kane's studio was broken into on Saturday night and 23 pieces from the SS08 collection that is due to be shown on Monday September 17th have been stolen as well as Kane's laptop. The thieves somehow knew the keycodes to both sets of doors and left no fingerprints. I may be getting a bit Nancy Drew here but let's look at the complete pointlessness of stealing Kane's collection here....

Given the hype Kane's show garners, there's not a place in the world that those dresses could be worn in public without some random fashionista squaking 'Oh, that's Christopher Kane!' unless we're talking about deserts, jungles, moutains and other vast expanses of nothing-ness..... in which case it's doubtful that a sexy Kane creation is going to be showing up....

eBay pirates wanting to make a buck or two by selling them on auction.... they would be caught in an eBay second....

The dresses are to be sent off to China to be prototypes for the cheap factory knock-offs which will again end up on eBay.... nobody would believe Christopher Kane dresses could be sold for a nicely rounded figure of $59.99 (if you think you're buying a Marc Jacobs dress for that price, don't be fooled!).

Interns working at Kane's studio as a spy for another designer.... what would another designer do with Kane's collection? Use it as 'inspiration' for their own collection? With Kane's show still scheduled to go ahead (gosh... remaking the whole collection in a week and a half.... tough stuff for Kane and his team me thinks....), it's unlikely that any designer would dare implement any noticeable inspirations into their clothes without getting caught immediately.

I can only think that a Kane-obsessive who wishes to house all his work in a catacomb-esque underground vault where he/she can descend and proceed to adore Kane's work in a religious fashion could have stolen these goods if those dresses are to be of any use at all...

Good golly.... I had better ring up Scotland Yard. I have solved the crime in a minute!

If its not a publicity stunt, then why on earth was the press informed?

kane has a PR and as far as im concerned he doesnt need this stunt. he is one of the most talked designers this season once again

have i mentioned i am looking forward to ERDEM?

I just read about the Kane news a second ago. I'm shocked! [snarky]Who would want Kane's clothes, let alone enough to steal them!? [/snarky]

Where's Manish Arora?

He's showing in Paris this season, on sept. 30th at the very beginning of Paris fashion week. Can't wait for that.

Also hope a great season in London now that Marc by Marc is away and back in NY. Not that I don't like the collection that much but it was hugely overhyped and has some kind of negative impact on the last fashion week in London. I was a bit disappointed.
Now I'm waiting for good or great collections from young designers, see more Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, Gareth Pugh, Giles, Roksanda and many many more. I always expect good shows in London, brilliant ideas here and there, eye-catching or well-done collections, daring casting and interesting styling within the shows. Keep my fingers crossed !

This is the first season Im actually looking foward to London fashion week, I cant wait for Christopher Kane and Giles, but most of all one of my favorite designers-Matthew Williamson, very excited hes showing in London where he first started!!!

I am looking forward to Gareth Pugh,Marios Schwab,Giles,Roksanda Ilincic and anyone else who will surprise me. :D
