Luella S/S 09 London

this is very "young grandma" meaning that it reminds me of something my grandmother would wear but with more youthful cuts. it's cute, but most of the pieces individually don't seem very practical and the prints are kind of overwhelming.

 what's MJ about this??. ugh. can we just leave Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs alone as references?. seriously, it's quite the trend this season. they didn't invent anything!, especially Marc Jacobs who makes shameless rip-offs from Japanese designers every single season in every single one of his pathetic, fashion-victim-y outfits. there.

back on topic, I really like this.. the styling is truly feisty and visually appealing, it has that effect of a 3-minute pop song.. it's so accessible but you can't really complain about it. thanks for posting OhJane.

not sure you will smile my dear Mullet ....
but i was about to say :
"this is just how marc jacobs/suzy menkes collection should have looked like" ..... when i first see luella there i was like "omg she did slap marc with this collection and give him a f***ing great lesson" ....

indeed, i love the styling ......
a great lesson for MJ, she gave us there !!
:innocent:

This si the bets thing to come out of London is AGES! Betsey Johnson/Valentino/Chanel. Theres a bit of everything here, but its all super cute. The colours are so psychodelic. I especially love the ribbon dress on Jourdan.

An interesting and vibrant collection not usually associated with London fashion, particularly with its colouring. its easy to draw comparison with other designers/collections but as far as I can see it's an orignial look from a talented designer.

I usually really like Luella and I was looking forward for her new collection but what I miss here is IRONY that she's really good at...This is just cute. and quite boring!...

...and it looks like something from a mediocre fashionschool fashionshow!

I managed pick up the press release after the show,

'Think of a nice, polite, knee-length dress you might find a rather mature royal wearing to a garden party, add three, mash them together, add an ample amount of sickly sweet confectionary colour, and a bit more, then look at it throught phsycedellic tinted glasses, give it a matching handbag, shoe and hat and this season's character is born. To Mention colour would be an understatement, but it's a very particular type of colour. Its bright, garish, sick, so done to punk proportion. This is cute and proper to the point of subversion from the pink velvet "tatler" bow right at the top of the rock sloane quiff down to pannelled tweed and lace skirt suit to the multi-coloured heart fronted heel at the bottom. On fist glance everything is rather english and proper, boardering on your Sunday best, with bow fronted blouses, pleated, skirts and mini, structured queen mum bags but theres a strange, wonky undertone. Things aren't quite present and correct. Take the randomly pleated, floral panelled dress which graduates into a grey jersey sportswear vest top.'

Another theory was 'mad aunt on LSD!!!!!'
