has anyone living in the US bought anything from luisaviaroma.com? if so what are the charges applied if any? thx

HI Ed,

I haven't ordered from them before, but I've been told that they don't skimp on the customs taxes since they are a store. So take that into account when you are figuring out the pricing. You can also call them as people in the states I know have done so without much of a problem.

i dunno how the proces works but it says if ur not from europe u dont get charged the VAT charges which makes the items significantly cheaper. whats VAT anyway.

VAT - Value added tax.

That site is incredible...I saw tons of stuff I would like to have! I hope there's no tax bc it is $$$.

I bought an Ann Demeulemeester shirt from them. The shipping is HELLA expensive, but it came from Italy in like two days. I don't remember about VAT charges and stuff; I guess there weren't any. But you definitely have to take the shipping into account when you're buying something from them.

yea the shipping charge for the stuff i want is 50 euro or around 65 us dollars. but i dont really mind that, i just dont want a crap load of custom taxes added on.

Yeah, it's always 50EUR. I haven't had to pay any customs stuff, so I wouldn't worry about it.

oh yea and alex, the price on of the t shirt in euro on luisa was it fairly accurate to the dollar amount they charged you, from what you calculated? i calculate currencies on cnn.com

Awesome! Post them in the Secret Shopaholics Thread. I wanna see.

I bought a pair of DH jeans from them, super fast shipping but 50 euro to the US (chicago). The thing is, shortly after I got my jeans Fedex hit me with a bill for $100 for duties or import tax or something. So my $400 jeans actually ended up costing more like $575 in the end. That being said, it was an overall positive experience. They answered my questions quickly and everything seemed very professional, I'd buy from them again.

wow what the hell a extra 100 dollar bill? WTF.... anyways i ordered my stuff like a few days ago, they dont respond to my emails about the order. alexn didnt get hit with any extra fees, i hope i dont either, but i live in chicago too, i guess im doomed.

what?! thats incredible... it shouldn't be any more than 10% of the declared value!

Yep, 102.54 to be exact, $72.54 for assessments at 16.6% of 329 .11 euro, 92 cents for currency exchange fees, $25 for some fee called MPF and then something else too, but I'm confused by the bill Fedex sent me, its 9 pages long. The bill came maybe a month after my jeans did. Also, Fedex held my package for a couple days because they had to fax me forms to fill out before they would even deliver it. I'm curious to know, did anybody else who ordered from here have to go through all this?

that is ridiculous.... i seriously hope i dont go through that crap, i dont even have a fax. alexn had no trouble at all its odd you went through all this.

that's crazy! when i had two huge handbags come in from the UK i had just a little bit over that. but it was the bank who charged me a total of 3% in currency exchange fees, not fedex.

I don't think it's been a month yet since I got my shirt. That sh*t better not happen to me. And I just ordered a pair of Ann Demeulemeester riding boots from them like five minutes ago. I'm scared now.
But I didn't have to fill out anything; my package wasn't held. When was it that this happened, danimal?
