I have also wondered about the reasons why more mature women are ridiculed for wearing overtly sexy outfits. I'm not a fan of this kind of style myself, regardless of age, but I sometimes wonder if people feel uncomfortable with it because they imagine that a more mature woman would (hopefully!) possess more confidence/dignity, therefore not feeling it is necessary to undress to impress.

It isn't exactly my own view or opinion, just a guess at what might inspire the snide comments.
I don't really think that people are opposed to seeing bare 50yr old flesh so much as they are somehow instinctively disturbed by the idea of a 'mother aged figure' flaunting around like a 20 yr old. So perhaps it is more of a mind thing than physical.
I would also be interested in how women of Madonna's actual age feel about it. Are the people judging her mostly very young? I would wonder why the image of a sexualized mature woman should bother anybody. Why should it?
And on the subject, I do know a handful of 50-somethings who do actually look damned great, and quite a bit prettier than Madonna. I don't really think that plastic surgery is the issue so much as the woman's self confidence, acceptance of her stage in life. And yes, most of Hollywood has succumbed to surgery, which makes it quite difficult to actually tell how natural aging would have affected them anyway. It is so difficult to judge - even with the much younger crowd!
Personally, my feelings are mixed, and depend upon the person in question. Sexy outfits and plastic surgery are no real issue to me, although when they become prerequisites for continuing your career I do feel that this is somewhat disturbing.
When someone i admire has work done, it actually saddens me initially, and i ask myself why. I guess it is because surgery has become the 'norm' for public figures, and a part of me still feels really intrigued by the idea of them having confidently remained as nature intended. Whether this is right or wrong, i have no idea!

Madonna To Open Second Hard Candy Fitness Center In Moscow
New York, NY - December 8, 2010 -- For Immediate Release - Madonna in partnership with her manager Guy Oseary and Mark Mastrov, Chairman of New Evolution Ventures (NeV), announced the opening of the second Hard Candy Fitness Center in Moscow which is projected to open in mid-March 2011.
The new facility will be a beautifully designed and unique 35,000 square foot space located near Red Square. Moscow’s Hard Candy Fitness will also include a partnership with Irina Razumova, founder of the well know Russian chain Planet Fitness. They are currently exploring opportunities around the globe for facilities that will offer a unique member experience in all aspects including curriculum, environment and fashion.
Throughout her career, Madonna has been devoted to fitness and well being. Having worked out in hundreds of gyms around the world, she developed a strong vision on what the ideal exercise, dance and workout environment should look like. The vision took shape during an initial meeting between Mark Mastrov, the innovator behind some of the World’s best known Fitness Brands and Guy Oseary early in 2008. Three Madonna tours set for release on DVD and Blu-Ray
There has been quite a buzz lately about chances for one of the most sought-after pieces of Madonna's career as a performer to finally see the light of day, and we're happy to share three great news with you.
MadonnaTribe can exclusively reveal that not only one but three Madonna tour concerts are going to be released on home video in the near future.
Not only the long-awaited Blond Ambition Tour is now set for release on both DVD and Blu Ray but also the whole Virgin Tour concert and a remastered Girlie Show!
These are new releases Warner had been working on since a while, and time has finally come to hit the stores.
This is the sort of news able to make the day for many Madonna fans, even if we also have to add the there is nothing planned at this point for another jem, Madonna's Reinvention Tour.

OMG I am so excited. I have (like other fans) have been waiting for The Blonde Ambition Tour to come out on DVD forever. I watched it on video everyday after school when I was a teen. This is so awesome. I wonder which show it will be. I know there was VHS of her concert in Japan. The one I had was filmed in Barcelona.
