i hate it how they seem to stick to one girl or a group of girls (e.g. carol t, lily d, gemma combination) all the time. sometimes it's ok (hehe if it features ppl i like) but generally, unless the eds are really good, it gets boring and there's no variety.

i think the girls meisel picks for vogue italia covers are a bit edgier in their appeal...
heather bratton, amanda moore, anne-maria, etc...

only sasha, snejana and iselin of the more recent cover girls have appeared in vogue, and i think it's more to do with their ad campaigns than anything else...

maybe amanda moore's time is coming...

Well, Heather might have made it there if she'd been with us, Amanda is a special case and she's not that much of a Meisel fave is she? A bit of one, but not along the lines of Stam, Karen, Eugenia or Daria.

Besides Coco Rocha just got an only girl ed in American Vogue. I think it says a good deal about Meisel's Vogue Italia to American Vogue test bed.

I dont know the details, but sometimes when a model is new and starting out, and a photographer or editor loves them enough, they are going to want the model to become big. By doing this, they make the demand for her to be greater. For example, when Jessica Stam was new, Steven Meisel had a contract with her that did not allow her to shoot with any photographer, and someone else mentioned he controlled the jobs she would get, this set Jessica Stam into the model she is now, where if Steven stopped shooting her, it woudlnt matter because her name is already important. Du Juan, had a contract with Patrick Demarchelier and Carine Roitfeld for French Vogue, that's why she appeared in Demarchelier and Roitfeld styled editorials in the beginning of her career.

I can't agree with more! Sometimes I wonder if it is because Lily D doesn't not do many modeling work in UK, like she has skipped London fashion week for two seasons. And she is still rising, unlike Gemma, Stella and Kate, they are not merely known to fashion lovers. But she really deserves more work with UK Vogue!
