Maison Martin Margiela Resort 2015

thanks tric...:flower:

But we have to remember that it's a constantly changing business, and to keep up, and to keep doing things like the Artisanal collections which remind me more of the old Margiela, they must think also about the modern market and the demand for intelligent-but-more-wearable clothes as well.
right- that's where the really outrageous stuff belongs...
like couture...
where it can be special ordered by those individuals who dare to wear it- and who have the lifestyle and budget to...
but it is too hard for an entire company to subsist on these few individuals...

even people who may love it and want to wear it, may not have the means...
in fact- most don't...
that is a sad reality...

isn't it the point of making clothes to have people wear them...?
every single designer says when they are interviewed that their fave part of designing is seeing women bring their clothes to life on the street...

frankly- i'm glad that they haven't destroyed the brand...
i'm am actually pleasantly surprised and pleased by the way the diesel parent company kept the integrity to such a degree...
i think most of us predicted disaster, but, even as they have expanded the accessories and mm6, i still see the original dna...
*can't say that the quality is totally still there....
but that is true for most brands, whether they have the original designer or not...
manufacturing and quality has declined in the fashion industry overall...
so i can't just point a finger at diesel and blame them for that...

one of the nicest places i visited in tokyo this fall was the MMM store in Omotesando...
and this is coming from a person who made a special trip to London to see the original MMM store when it first opened...

the entire collection was there...
it was definitely more polished and shiny than that first tiny little white-washed space...but it was still the same attitude and the same vibe and the same customer they are speaking to...

i'm just really impressed, frankly...
i'm even impressed that so much of the MMM vernacular HAS trickled down and been accepted by so much of the mainstream...

you cannot imagine the puzzled looks and comments i used to get when i wore my stuff years ago...
now- if anyone is looking, it's really obvious that they are admiring or taking note...
i look more like part of the mainstream now...
but i haven't changed---they have!
i mean- a pair of culottes or an asymmetrical skirt used to make people freak out...
...

it's pretty fantastic how things evolve...

*one thing i wish they would do eventually is ditch those masks on the runway...
i have always despised them...
i find them misogynistic...
can't help it...i know it's to make the models 'anonymous'...
but it still feels wrong deep in my bones...
