from wwd...

Jacobs and Duffy are getting ready for a move of sorts. The duo has decided to stage the Marc by Marc Jacobs show during London Fashion Week in February. "We have a really nice Marc by Marc business in Europe," Duffy said. "I always felt when we showed it in the U.S. we would do it the day after, because Marc had to get back to Paris for Louis Vuitton. I always felt bad, because Marc by Marc has such a strong identity but would always get lumped in with the Collection show. I also always wanted to show in Europe."

The aim is to present the collection on Feb. 16, which would coincide with the opening of the first Collection store in London. The 2,800-square-foot unit will be located in a former antiques store at 24-25 Mount Street in Mayfair and offer women's and men's apparel, children's wear, home furnishings, accessories and an in-house public relations office. The store was designed by architectural firm Stephan Jaklitsch Design.

cool, with emporio armani and now this........... maybe it will lead to a revival of LFW

London's burning up...I wonder if the move will be permanent, kind of like Miu Miu's move...

Great news!

I'm all for anything which is going to bring LFW some more attention. I hope it will end up being a permanent move.

Although I think doing the show outside the US is a good idea, I don't believe that presenting it at the London FW is something to happy for. The LFW has become quite unpopular in the last few years and I don't think that MJ should form a part of it.

...hope he picks some inspiration from there. :innocent:

this is great! hopefully the crowd at London will get larger and voice louder!

Im w/ Mullet, godwilling Marc by Marc might get it's own identity, not the slubby version of MJ Collection

Change is good, but as far as London Fashion Week is concerned, it shouldn't depend upon big names to give it a boost...(I'm not saying that they are asking people to show, but it seems like London attracts attention for its fashion week for the wrong reasons IMO)

LFW has been gaining positive press on its own for all the right reasons. Sure Pugh and Kane are the current media darlings but Clare Tough and Marios Schwab, Peter Jensen and the developments at Aquascutum have been reason enough for many editors and buyers to take another look at London. London is creating its own point of view and adding an energy to the season the other weeks lack. Marc is certainly joining a party already in progress, I think the decision to show is exciting because its unexpected, the tension between what's already happening there and this quirky, faux-underground label is good stuff. But I don't think Marc can or will make or break LFW.

More from FWD

....
plans to stage a runway show during London Fashion Week on February 16 to coincide with the debut of his 2,800-sq.-ft. Marc Jacobs Collection store on Mount Street in the city’s Mayfair district.

Jacobs is looking to give his secondary line a fresh, new identity, and just like Prada, who moved her Miu Miu show from Milan to Paris two seasons ago, the relocation is the most significant first step, though it is understood that he will bring his Marc by Marc Jacobs line back to New York next fall.
.....

Wow. So does this mean that all the top models who do Marc by Marc Jacobs in NY...would have to do London fashion week :P

It could've been an interesting move, but I really don't think relocating for one show, which just haaaaappens to coincide with the store opening, will make any difference.

this is probably more to promote their NEW HUGE store than anything else.

could you tell me some more? what huge store?

promote or not..i think this is great.
london is the "it" place to be right now anyways.
good for london fashion week

hmmm Marc by marc and MJ have to different design teams.....MJ doesnt really design his own crap anyway, so it would be interesting if Marc by marc started looking better than MJ. I do like the younger appeal. This show is going to force many people to fly to london ahha
