Question for all you MJ bag experts ... I really love the new metallic ... eggplant color or whatever it's called--plum?? (Too lazy to look it up )

Anyway ... I have read bad things here about how the metallic bags age/wear. I don't have any, but I have a couple pairs of his metallic shoes from this spring. So far I'm only seeing wear on the insole, they're doing fine, but bags are a different story.

Have they fixed the problem with the metallics yet? Are all the metallics a bad bet? Anyone have a picture of a metallic bag that has worn badly? Shower me with your wisdom

I also really love the color, I wanted to get it but didnt becuase of the metallic problems. I have a metallic balenciaga make up bag which is really rubbed off, and I remember a member complaining about a bronze that rubbed off as well. I dont know about recent bags but I doubt its fixed. I've heard of this problem with the spies and a lot of other bags so I think it's just a charectaristic of most metallic leather.

I know, i don't know what i was thinking with my thoughts of selling it for a different colour! As much as i love mousse and taupe, i do love my putty. Momentary lapse of judgement from treating it too much as an everyday bag (i do just chuck everything in it and take it to work most days).

Oh Mparis it's beautiful!! You'll have to take some of you wearing it too. I always love seeing how everyone interprets their bags differently.
It actually looks a lot like my putty, except patent. Is it sort of a creamy grey in really life?

Oh, i haven't seen the colour personally but it sounds divine! metallic plum!!

I'm not sure there have been any improvements on the metallic (though i'm not speaking from experience obviously as i don't have one of the new ones myself), but i know there have been really bad reports about it rubbing off in the past as GG said. I'd be wary if i were you. Best to go with a matte or patent version- to be honest they're probably more classic and versatile anyway.

^^ thanks yeah it is a very pale grey, almost like a blue-ish/grey putty, but your original putty is TDF!
