Marc Jacobs Stam Bag (September 2005 - March 2010)

I love the Stam, but I have seen so many knock offs that I'm starting to think twice

I guess there are knock offs of almost every bag now. Even the new ones that just came out. That wouldn't leave much bags to buy.

Exactly. I think some fakes hit the streets before the authentic versions make it into stores.:rolleyes:

I go to China about 3x a year, and as an owner of the original black Stam, those fakes just don't match up. It's like the Chanel bags--the leather isn't right.

i think if you love the bag, the fact they do fakes of it does not affect the credibility of it being a wonderful bag. I fell in love as soon as i saw it in the karen elson vogue editorial when it first came out. I could have cared less if it was a flop or a hit, i thought it was a unique design and also as a piece of art, as well as something functional. I see fakes every now and then, but usually the people who wear the fakes, dont really like the bag all that much, and buy it because it's currently trendy, and becasue they saw lindsay lohan or paris hilton with it. They wear the bag to make themselves feel like those stars, and to create envy in the ignorant. It's not about the bag, but about the manipulation of character through designer brands. The bag isn't made for them...true fans of a bag will use it always, whether or not they came in late in the game....people who wear fakes, just want to be in the trend at the moment, and that moment is a temporary one

That is a very good and convincing statement, Jun! I know that I love the bag for its own sake and definitely not because I saw a celebrity carrying it. I consider myself a true fan and that's why the bag will never be out of fashion for me and I'll keep carrying it regardless of what people might think/say about it.

Has anyone heard about the Elastic Quilted Stam bags for fall??? LVR has the new collections up.

Thanks for the pics! I must admit of all the Stams I still like the original quilted ones best.

I really love the blue and purple patent. I think it's time to add another stam to the collection :D

What do you guys think of the large size? I like the idea of a larger stam but it looks unproportionate to me.

Does anyone know why they are called elastic? Maybe it's just me missing something but I don't have a clue.... they do look less structured, like the first Stam & I like that much better.

im wondering if the quilted stitches have elastic in the threads....that could present problems!

:woot: There's purple patent???? Where can I see it?

PS The little Stam seems to be a reasonable size--I've never opened one up, but I recall seeing a miniature one in a store that seemed the right size for me (I don't like big bags), I assume it was this one. Can you fit a reasonable amount of stuff in one? And where can I find out what colors it comes in?

I don't like the shape either.
Fashionista, I have the little Stam from last season and it fits quite a lot actually. More than I thought it would. For example, large wallet, cell, keys, lipgloss etc. small umbrella or bottle of water. That's all I need so it's not that small.
